Great, your patience is golden.
I just got word from Tom (Simmons) at tscustomseats.com that my new Trike seat for my 1500 trike will be shipped out on Monday. I am pretty excited about that ! I have had many different seats over the years, some stock, some not so stock and have NEVER had one that was comfortable enough to travel more that a couple hundred miles without 'crawling' off and moving around in an attempt to get the feeling back in my legs. From what I understand Tom's seats accomplish this.
I sent it out before Christmas with the understanding that it would be back to me in a week or ten days because of the holidays. Then came the first problem, the material I chose is now no longer available. Darn-it. OK, second choice will be fine. Then, I decide to add some Goldwing Wings to the seatback for the passenger and the drivers backrest. I want them done in white to match the trike & trailer. Uh-oh. It appears that the lady who does his embroidering is going to be gone until the sixth or seventh of January. OK, that's fine, after all she had no idea this job was coming because I didn't decide until after I sent the seat to Tom.
Then came the biggie! Tom and his wife both came down with the flu bug. Now I don't pretend to know Tom or his wife and I certainly don't know how old they are but I do know that this current flavor of flu going around is NOT to be under-estimated. It took him down for a week or so and then silly him thought he was all well again and that nasty flu bug sure showed him! It had him down for more than two weeks easy. In fact, he wrote me an email a week ago and said he was planning to ship out my new seat the following Monday but when I spoke with him, I knew better. Needless to say, it didn't make it.
Now, skip forward to this morning. I placed my weekly phone call into Tom's shop and when he answered the phone I knew he was back! I could hear that bounce in his voice again. For those of you who know Tom you'll know what I'm talking about. We joked for a couple of minutes (yeah, he's back) and then he told me VERY MATTER OF FACT like that it would ship out this Monday for sure.
Now, you know, getting a new Tom Simmons hand made custom seat in the material I chose with a backrest built in to the seat plus a couple of embroidered Goldwing wings would be good enough for just about anybody, but I must admit that getting to know Tom over the past month or six weeks has been a blessing for me. Truly a great guy and someone I cherish being able to call my friend.
Oh, almost forgot, pics to come later when the seat is back home. But I took advantage of the time without the seat to do some other work to the trike and I may have to wait for a while before installing the seat.

Some people just don't understand that normal things happen to other people, and that can mess up a schedule but hey, it happens! I was sitting in Milwaukee airport waiting on a connecting flight to Orlando, but the plane had a problem with the landing gear. We ended up 3 hours late and people were just complaining like crazy, but I said look.its a lot easier to fix it on the ground then it is in the air. I don't care how long it takes, as long as the darn things work when we need them ! One woman was really complaining because of reservations, but there is always some way to get them straight. Not enough parachutes for everyone on the flight if the landing gear don't work.
Yep. But I have to be honest here, if this all would've taken place from the end of May to the beginning of July (right smack in the middle of our short riding season) I probably couldn't have gathered up that much patience. On the bright side, I decided to send the seat off during the cold and miserable Ohio winter months. Good decision!

Just received this picture from Tom (at tscustomseats). The seat is on its way home to me but Tom decided to tease me a little with this picture. Looks good to me .....
Sorry for the size, couldn't figure out how to resize it prior to posting. Its just my seat, my wifes backrest looks just as good (it has a set of wings sewed into it also) along with the armrest pads & covers.

We had tom build us one last year, it was great seat. but lost it when we traded our Goldwing for a new Indian Road Master. Need to see what he can do with new bike.
Here, this one is easier to look at. (at least it was for me)
Can't wait. Now, if mother nature would just cooperate!!
