Lesson Learned on Road Zeppelin seat

We are never too old to learn.....I have been reading the many comments about the Road Zeppelin seat and decided to buy one for my 14 Triglide. I knew within a very short period of time that it just was not for me. The newer Road Zeppelin seats have fewer air bladders than previous models. Just another example of a seat being a very individual thing. Everyone's butt is different. Mine did not find the Road Zeppelin seat comfortable and after a 200 miles I returned it. My dealer did not charge my a restock. I am in no way slamming this seat because so many of you really love it. I should have taken advantage of the demo seat program my dealer has and saved the hassle. Ride safe

Yep, HD dealers have "demo seats" for everyone to try out before spending $ for a seat. You probably will get a gift card instead of cash back (guessing)! I use the stock seat on my '13 w/sheepskin cover from Black Sheep Trading.

Yes.....they gave me a gift card and that was OK with me.....we all know we never finish spending money on our Trikes.

If you can do without the hand rails try the hammock seat .... or this is an option I am going to check out as I already use an Airhawk2 on my stock seat and love it. http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/d...eat-for-harley

I too was disappointed with the new RZ seat. The center bladder that was on the old model was the one feature I really liked and needed for my sciatic problem, but the seat is still my favorite due to being able to change the pressure points over and over again which helps on those 500 to 700 mile days. .

There's no way I could be comfortable on a static seat for any length of time over 45 minutes.
If you can't get comfortable on a RZ seat, I don't know how you can be comfortable on a static seat - the pressure points never change. Maybe beads or lambs wool cover will help.

What I found to work the best was to adjust the seat every half hour - BEFORE my butt started getting numb. If I waited until it did get numb then it didn't seem to help too much.

Another thing that some riders don't like is that the RZ seat moves you a little bit closer to the front.

Alan, you are right, everyones butt likes a different seat. I have the newer version of the RZ and WE love it, I moved it from my 2012 to the new 2015. The odd thing about us is I run the rider portion of the seat without any air in it and can ride it all day that way while the wife airs up and down as GaryD says. Different butts like different things.

I too bought a Road Zeppelin seat and was not satisfied, especially since I had problems with the shocks until I bought the best rear shocks for harley davidson touring, until then I had terrible rubbing, I bought myself another model of seat.
