Looking to buy my first trike. I know absolutely nothing about them except they have three wheels and a motor.

57 years old and have ridden since I was 10 years old. Couple of heart sugeries, other health problems making choices slim on getting another two wheel ride.

Went to Alaska last year Fairbanks on my K1200RS and am leaving again this June for Anchorage. Riding my current bike. I dropped it 4 times last year...lol. So we will see how this year goes.

A dependable trike would be very NICE!

Welcome to TrikeTalk!!!! You will find you have a short (200 - 500 mile) adjustment period as you learn to STEER instead of LEAN, but believe me, the stability and security of the trike will feel like heaven! Welcome to the board, one of the first things u need to figure out is what type of trike R U looking for... Harley----Goldwing---VW style--the newer reverse trikes etc... Then U need to go and ride as many as U can, each brand rides different...
Don't be afraid to ask question, we have some very nice people on here who don't mind helping someone out...

All good advice. I have never been on a motorcycle trike....unless you count a suzuki 125 three wheeler back in the eighties....lol. So No experience.

I have to admit I am not a HD fan. They make a great looking and sounding machine just not my cup of tea. I am leaning towards more of Goldwing 1500 around 11 to 15 years old. So as not to invest a lot of money until I can decide if this is truely for me. I will be keeping my BMW K1200RS for that very reason.

I have spent a few hours reading and looking around at different trike builders on the web that were referenced from this site and they seem very professional. It seems there is one based out of Clarksville , Ar. about 2 hours from me. I live in Lonoke, AR.

dbarnes180, welcome aboard. I purchased a 1997 GW 1500 with a California Sidecar conversion, for my daughter. She took to it like a baby duck to water. I think it would be a very good trike for your situation. Also a couple of companies make conversions for BMW's. Makes a very good looking trike.

Best way to decide on what trike to get is to check them out in person. I don't know too much about Lonoke except it is about 20 miles from Little Rock. There may be some 'cycle or trike dealers in LR to visit. I do know about 2 hours up I-40 Horizion Trike Center is in Clarksville. We have visited them and they are nice folks. On the top of thier website Horizon Trike Center they feature California Side Car, Champion, MotorTrike and Roadsmith conversions. Also, here is a list of some trike dealers in Arkansas I found:arkansas

You might even find someone to trike your Beemer, but the telelever front end probably wouldn't be able to be raked.

Well! I stand corrected, and not for the first time. I'll bet not for the last either!
It would be interesting to inspect that ball joint mod. It sounds pretty much like a rake kit, but for the telelever front end on BMW's.
