Default Trike Lift Table Opinions Please

I have a '95 GL1500 SE with a solid axle Lehman conversion. I do all my own maintenance. We have averaged about 19K miles a year for the last five years so I do about 3 oil changes a year, not to mention cleaning and polishing, and I am getting too old and decrepit (sp?) to be getting down on my knees and back on a concrete floor so I have decided it is time for a lift table. So I would like to hear from you folks who have one which brand/model you have. Would also like to know what you like about it and what you don't like or would change and why. As always, TIA. Stan

Okay ... I'm watching this thread with real interest ... I'm getting to that decrepit age myself.

I also never liked crawling all over the ground or getting up & down with my bad knees.... I started with my 1000# Handy bike lift before I triked then I added some 3/4" Plywood to allow my trike to fit.... was always having to help this rig up as it was about 300# over weight and no very stable as a trike / top heavy and not designed for this use.

When I retired three years ago it was time for a change that would not fall on someone and my riding mowers and mini Kubota along with the trike could be worked on in comfort. Enter my choice after looking at many different things / K&L MC625R Heavy Duty Air Lift : http://www.klsupply.com/SHOPLIFTEQUI...TYAIRLIFT.aspx

The website is full of information and has a video, Accessories available and a Manuel !!! I have found no trike that will not fit on this lift!!

I opted for the Air Version as they also have a Hydralic Model that seemed a little more messy and required more maintenance. It lifts 1750# so adding accessories is not a problem and at 500# it doesn't move around / I added the following and why I did...: #35-9926 Wheel Vise , #35-0321 Retractable Wheel Set , allows you to move the lift around, #35-6557 Front Extension , to allow extra space to pull farther forward and chok the tires, #35-6770 Nose Wheel for wheel set, #37-8660 Fat Jack , I use this for lifting the front from under the motor to access front pad changes for wheel removal - very stable, #37-9841 Center stand w/Adapters , for lifting the rear under the trail hitch area on my Roadsmith , also found one of these similar on EBAY - but this sissor lift will pickup the trike rear just fine for placing jack stands.

Oh and no more crawling around on the ground, work area is 40" to the deck and it locks when raising at every height click, has a little foot movable unlock to go back down. I use the same compressor I have used for years with a max. pressure of 120PSI but normally set at 100..

with the trike on the deck it takes less than 1 minute to get it eye level and locked at the top height. I'm so happy and confident with the lift I store my trike on it during the winter and address items that need work as needed. Today is oil change, tire pressures and grease ftgs day.... Friday the 13th

Whatever you decide get a little over kill, so it won't fall on you later...... FYI

whatever one you get; make sure it has atleast a 1500lb lift capability.
there are Forums on here about certain lifts.

This thread has given me an idea ... I'm building (converting) a trailer for the tri ... I'm thinking making the floor removable in the center to facilitate service ... just a thought ... wouldn't help with getting the wheels off the ground. See pic

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

The shop I work in has 3 of the K&L hydrallic lifts. The big advantage of the hydrallic unit is that you just need a 110v supply to make them work. They are a must for Spyders and side-by-sides (mules, mavericks, commanders, tyrexs, etc). I use a Handy lift (compressed air powered) which my Roadstar/Champion will just fit on.

If you can afford the K&L with the side panels, it is the way to go, as far as I am concerned.

Yep luckily it wasn't mine. It is a Handy lift made for a trike, was told the trike was not far enough forward and didn't have an extension so when they lowered it to lock it at height and it hit the lock / stop the weight just bent the whole lift in the middle. Came up and hit the bottom of the trike but didn't fall over luckily. Was told it took 6 HD Guys to lift it off and someone to pull the bent lift out of the way. I just don't think Handys lift is that HD plus its not very wide.... that's why I like the K&L lift, safety just costs a little more. It was a Tri-Glide that was on the bent lift.... FYI

Mike - If I remember correctly I priced the K&L MC 655, 2000 lb model, including a 1000 lb scissor jack, out at about $3000, plus residential delivery charges. This model replaces the MC 650, 1500 lb model which they no longer make. Anybody have a Redline Industries or Kernel? They are two other brands I have looked at. Stan

I bought mine locally but it still had to be shipped in and came PPD direct to my office where I had a forklift to load it in my truck..it weighs 500# plus your add-ons.... so maybe I had 700# Total.... took it all off 1 piece at a time and used my alum bike ramps to slide the main lift to the ground after I added the wheels... then I could pull it around. This was a site that had prices but I paid less on everything thru the dealer I used...

    http://www.derekweaver.com/bikers-ga...le-lift-table/

I had a local Derek Weaver dealer but I would think unless your picking it up there it will get shipped direct.... Make sure to tell them its for a trike so the side rail kit will have three ramps... no you won't bottom out unless you have a real low rider bike or trike....

We had a direct lift before the Handy BOB1500, the Handy is twice the lift the direct lift was. Around here you see more Harley Dealers with the Handy lift than any other lift. The lift in the picture looks like the 1,000 lb rated lift, I'm using the 1,500 lb rated lift. There have been times I've really rocked the trike on the lift while trying to loosen a real tight fastener. I will say my 2012 Hannigan won't fit without using the chopper extension, which I haven't bothered installing.

The Handy I'm working off of looks more stout than the bent one in the picture.

here is the lift table I got to handle my TG, there is a lot of things I like about this lift, but the best is that it will go up to 45 inches tall. I payed around $1250.00 delivered, when I lived in MO. You will find there are several sellers of this lift table and if you check around you should find a deal like I did.

I use a Handy B.O.B 1500 lb lift for my 98 GL1500 se trike and have never had a problem. You can buy an number of different accessories foe it also. Mine is an air lift and works smooth and lifts to 40 inches. It seems to be very stable. I just replace the rear axle seal and installed a new front tire on my trikes while raised in the top position and never had a problem. Sure beats bending over and crawling around on a creeper. Good luck on which ever lift you buy just remember common sense makes a lot of difference.

Great info here and thanks to those whom post links to the lifts. Getting ready to get a lift myself so I can do more work on my HD. Cold concrete is a little hard on my old knees.
