When I went from a 2013 to a 2018 trike, I ran into the same trouble others discovered....there is no longer room on the handlebar to attach a water bottle. I use a Contigo brand bottle and I've been very, very happy with how cold it keeps water or juice. No carbonated drinks!! The thing I like about it most is that a "sippy thing" pops up and you can drink without tipping your head back. Don't need to be looking up at the sky instead of what's in front of me.
I wanted to keep using that brand of water bottle but couldn't find a solution to mount it until I went to a bicycle shop hoping to find something that would work since all they do is mount water bottles on tubes and handlebars at all kinds of angles.
Found this, tried it and it works great.
It attaches with a very thin metal band that wraps around the handlebar. It is so thin it easily fits under the reservoir and you have plenty of 'flat' area to mount it there. It can also be rotated up or down as well.
Then you get a basket/holder that fits the mount and your set to go. It does not interfere with turning the handlebars to full lock either.
Here's a lousy picture of the whole set up, but it should give you a good idea of what it looks like installed.
Hope this helps someone looking for a way to mount a water bottle on the handlebars.
