Checking trans oil ?

The TG supplement says to check same as 2 wheeler. The manual for the 2 wheeler says to check it on the jiffy stand.
What's the correct way to check it ? Hot or cold, dipstick screwed in or resting on the case ? 2010 TG

Dipstick screwed in, And on the dipstick there Are markings for the T/G, It will say bike upright oil warm/hot....

The dipstick on my 2010 and on my wife's 2010 look just like the one that was on my 2010 Street Glide. My engine oil has a dipstick like you are talking about.

With that one I just screw it in lightly and if it's in the middle of the stick I'm good to go. To tell the truth I almost never check it... Maybe 3 times in 30 thousand miles Haven't had to add any oil between oil changes, And that includes the engine oil.. I find with bike engines the oil will seek its own level 'So if you try to keep the level at the full mark all the time you'll always be adding a little oil.. Especially if you like to rev out the engine from time to time..

Thanks That's what I do with engine oil as well. I usually don't bother checking the trans oil either except after a change I will check it after a few miles just to make sure I added enough and this time on both trikes it was a little below the add mark so I added a little to bring it to the mid range which is where I like it. With no real help from the SM I just wanted to check to see if I was doing it right... (my wife thinks she has been getting the short end of the dipstick lately as well, at my age I would rather ride anyway )
