Electrial gremlins

Good Morning
While waiting for brake parts I decided to tydup a couple ground wires.
and when I unhooked the ground wire I found it to be hot and was sparking.
this was a screw attached to the frame itself. anybody else run across
this problem. doesn't seem to drain the battery over a month time.
will start tracing my main cables first.

Do you know what it controls? You have a completed circuit and it may spark when you disconnect either the positive or negative. Rick

I was working on the cig lighter ground and it was not connected to
anything on one end and when I unbolted the other from the frame
it was sparking?

If it has power to it all the time, and you had the lighter in it, it would arch when you removed the ground. If not, you may have a short in the lighter receptacle.

Don't know anything about Stallions but it is 1/2 car. Do you have a radio/stereo with memory?? Clock??? Cruise control on? Security system?

It does have a Clifford security system. I don't know how to use it
the battery was dead in the remote, so I just threw the remote in a drawer for
save keeping.

All those things along with digital trip memory have power on 24/7. That might be the spark you are seeing. It should be small.

I agree with what has been said, Was the lighter pushed in when you removed the ground wire? If the lighter was not pushed in your lighter might be bad. That will make a small spark when the ground is removed. It's like when you are taking off your ground wire on your battery, if you have something that is putting a load on the battery and then you remove the cable it will cause a small spark.

Good Morning
I fished the alarm key fob out of the drawer put new batteries
in it and when the beeping and honking
and all the lights stopped flashing. I took it to car toys
and they were nice enough to give me a crash course
on how to use it. no electric gremlins at all just owner
stupity.
