Just back from a short visit (unable to make the trike rally). Was hoping for better flowers, but the drought has taken its toll. Most of the flowers are along the roadways with a partial field here and there. Saw a post on Facebook about a good field full on FM 1323 out of Johnson City. Rode off that direction but must have cut north off 290 too soon because we never saw any such field. Did use the Butler map of the area to select out some backroads (more like cow trails, really), got chased by dogs, chased some goats, and waited on more than one cow to get out of the way before we could move on. Trails so narrow, sometimes, meeting another vehicle could present some interesting choices.

Too bad. When I lived in Houston and took a road trip, the Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes were beautiful to see in the medians and roadside.

Texas Bluebonnet Sightings shared Marilia Stumpf Clark's photo. April 18 at 1:45pm . ‪#‎CR315‬ in the ‪#‎Texas‬ ‪#‎HillCountry‬! Sounds like it's still looking sweet. Be aware if you come on to CR315 from ‪#‎Hwy16‬. There are a few low water crossings before getting to the good ‪#‎bluebonnets‬ parts. Might want to approach it from ‪#‎CR308‬ off of ‪#‎Hwy71‬. Enjoy!

This has been one of the best years for Texas bluebonnets. Mid March thru Mid April have been near record levels due to a wet fall/winter/spring. We live in the middle of 'em. They started disappearing on schedule last week. Try again next year, last week of March/1st week of April your best bets...
