I'm surprised he's had success because BB's are usually copper which is very soft. I would think they would grind each other up and wear quickly when rolling around inside of tire.
Dynabeads are ceramic which is extremely hard. Dunno.
had a fellow down in ga. tell me he uses BB's in his tires for balance???,,,ya- he said he uses them in motorcycle ,car and his truck says he's been doing so for years with good result's ,,,,, just wondering if anyone here has head of this or tried it?? I can't see why it would not work but also can't think of a good benefit over say dyna beads..

I retired from the tire business and will tell you the bbs will work. We used golf balls in truck tires for a long tome. They would out last 2 sets of tires. In some cases it would take a little time for them to settle in and balance the tire until then you had a vibration. bbs are harder than golf balls, lead fishing sinkers work also, even if they wear down the material is still there. I know a trucking company that tried gear oil, it balanced the tires but ruined the inner liner of the tires. Do not use any kind of oil or water.
Not to get away from bb's, but if you use dyna needs, can you take off the weights?
Yes, I've been using dyna beads for about 10 years..runs smoother than with weights, and you can get rid of those fugly things.
Dunno about how bb's would work...dyna beads are tiny in comparison.
Kevin
how would you know how much/many bbs to put into the tire?????
Caveat: You can dispense with the solid weights on a motorcycle tire.
However, if you plan on using them on auto tires you need to check this site as some auto tires need to use both lead weights and Dynabeads because of low aspect ratio:

There was a company selling sand in a plastic bag for balancing. It worked but would stick in valve core and let the air out. BBs work and will not let the air out.
I tried BB's in wife's car. It seemed that every time the speed changed I had a small vibration for 2-3 seconds than smooth again till next speed change, so I took all the beads out and went to regular wheel weights.
Lots of work for nothing, but I tried it.
Ride safe Bob
I hear Ride On works really well, and may help prevent flat tires.
When I was a kid I almost knocked my eye out with them , Other than that and breaking a few windows' No..
