Leading Links

Hi all, been having problems with the handling of my Harley Switchback trike as I have posted. Couldn't get a triple tree rake kit within a reasonable time which would give me any riding on my trike this summer, so I decided to go down the leading link route. It's with the company who build them at the moment and I'm hoping that I get it back in time to get to Hamburg in June. I have never ridden with leading links, and I would welcome comments form any members on this forum as to the way they ride and handle. I am a member of a few trike forums here in the UK and I have asked on them for any comments on handling and whilst I only got a small response (under 10) all were positive. So I thought I'd throw it out on the biggest trike forum in the world.

Hi you'll love the handling improvement having leading link installed.No nose dive,positive steering with none of the twitchness.No pumped up forearms after a long ride.Light firm positive handling.Here's the forks i had on the Goldwing and never looked back.

Thanks Al, Good to know, had 5 different trikes 4 had ez steer this one hasn't and for me it's been a dog. Who did you get to build the links? Wasp motorcycles are doing mine.

You wont have a problem with Wasp John they built mine.Very good quality.
I fitted em myself from measurements i give to Mark ,they fitted perfect and trike sits same has when standard forks were fitted.

Al, don't have your skills, took mine up and their going to fit them for me. I'm glad your happy with them it means that for a change I might have made the right choice.

I tow a teardrop trailer behind Wing around 230kgs and had unstable issues and front wheel lockups with standard fork setup.
The leading link forks with the 175x15" car tyre wheel fitted feels totally safe and surefooted.

Did you specify the front wheel?

Yeh wanted the extra grip and stability of the 175x15" car tyre.Its really mated good wi
th the leading link forks.

Thanks Al, I didn't think that you could change the wheel. Will phone Mark at Wasp to discuss it with him. I have ABS on front brake and one disc on the wheel. Will need to check that out with him first. I'd be happy to have a wide wheel on the front as well as a car tyre, it must last a long time before wearing out.

That looks like a better frontwheel arrangement for the GL1800 trike.
