    Default Motorcycle hitch hauler

    Has anyone pulled their trike with one of the hitch haulers? It looks like and easy way to trailer your trike. It would beat hauling on on a full size trailer. Wanted to know if there is any danger or would it hurt the trike itself. My wife want to buy me one for fathers day but I wanted to get opinions on here first. Thanks

    That is actually a very good question Starrider! I have often wondered that myself.

    I mean, as long as one can secure the front wheel in the saddle, transmission is in neutral, I can't imagine it would be a bad deal. Not quite sure how one would put the front wheel in the rack though?

    On mine the rectangular tube coming from the torsion tube to the front neck is filled with cement so grabbing it and picking it up is waaaaaaaay out of the question.

    I would be concern about the trike sitting to low
    do u have a picture of the hitch

    Not me.


    Dragging one around by the front wheel puts stresses in weird directions that a fork was never intended for.
    Do they work? Yes indeed.
    Don't jerk around on it, don't sharp turn it, don't bounce it down rough roads. Be gentle with it. Hook it to the family car and pull it down the highway with you on vacation.

    I would also be concerned about the transmission freewheeling in neutral. Is there sufficient lubrication? I don't know, but I do know that trailers are far safer for the trike and possibly for people driving behind you. I have no proof that there would be an issue ... just concerns.

    A valid concern.
    I did assume he has the normal 4 speed.
    The Manuel trans is a sump oil. No pump like an automatic has.*
    So the trans will lubricate.
    But......
    Every mile you pull it will be the same amount of miles you are putting on the vw gearbox also.

    Mine is a four speed. I was just wondering about it. They sell them on ebay but I would actually have to make one. The one I was looking at on ebay is item number 141664940773 but I would have to make one for the width of my tire. I wouldn't be pulling it all the time. Maybe a couple of times a year. If I made one I could make it so the front tire isn't off the ground very far. I don't know if it would be too much stress or not. By the way I have a 2002 Roadhawk. I was just wondering about this. Thanks for the input.

    I've only travelled short distances, but previous owner says he used to tow it hundreds of miles.
    With weight in back, I have no problem lifting front off ground. In my case, long bar is actually attached to trike frame with wheel bolted down on it. My biggest problem is how low rear hangs. I need to actually get a lower hitch ball bracket eventually.

    No Death you didn't leave anybody out. At least I don't think so.I was just wondering about the hitch. On another note I just changed the jets in my Webers from the 45's to 55's rode it up the road and it seemed to get rid of the flat spot.I only rode it for a short ride but I'll keep you posted. I may check the sync on the carbs again but leave the rest of it alone if it keeps running good.

    Must not have ever been tuned correctly then.
