Shipping My Trike Down South

I would like to Professionally ship my Goldwing trike down south this fall, and checking to see
if it's affordable over buying my own trailer and towing it down myself.

I can purchase a 7x12 trailer for around $3,000.

U-Haul wants $1012.00 one-way.........

Has anyone used a company that ships trikes and can post some info for me to call and get a quote?

Not sure about shipping but you can buy a 7x12 utility trailer for under $1500 around here.

I have a 7x12 open trailer that was $799 + tax, new. Made to haul lawn mowers with ramp and 2 sets of tie downs rated at 3,300 lbs
I can get a 7x14 enclosed for 3 grand with electric brakes and it is tandem. Has side door and drop down ramp in the rear.

I know HD dealers will ship bikes ... not sure about trikes. They have a network of movers and they use the same pallets the ship the new stuff with. I once wanted to ship my GL1800 back east for a month ... was reasonable, but decided to ride it instead ...

2 years ago I shipped my HD conversion from California to Miami Fl for $1300 using HOG shipping.

Check out Uship. Have used them several times for varying things including Bikes/Trikes and no bad experiences so far. Carriers/Companies bid for the job and you decide who to accept. You pay Uship when Bid is accepted and they hold Payment until Unit is delivered and you are satisfied before they release Payment to the Carrier.

Another is Incognito Express. They have several unmarked (hence "Incognito") Hot-Shot Drivers with Duallies and Fifth wheel Trailers and run the lower 48. They specialize in Vehicles and haul everything from half-Mil Top Fuel Dragsters to barn find Restoration Projects to Motorcycles and Trikes. Very reliable and quick with good individualized Service. Usually priced around same as larger LTL Vehicle Carriers.

Avoid Haul Bikes and Allied Specialties like the Plague. More times than not, they take forever (usually it goes to one of their Hubs after pick up waiting for a full load heading to destination Area) and are prone to Transport damage.

If the former, you probably would come out ahead to just buy the $3,000 enclosed trailer and have it ready for when ever you might want it. I don't use mine often and it has actually hauled other's bikes and assorted things way more often then I have used it. My 2015 Roadsmith has not even been loaded as yet but the trailer is going to leave the parking pad this weekend to relocate a bunch of workbenches and other shop related things. <img src="images/smilies/smiley confused.gif" border="0" alt="" title="confused" class="inlineimg" /> <br />

Yes you will have registration, insurance, and trailer maintenance costs to factor in but to me it's worth the convenience and peace of mind. Gold Rush you and I are on the same page, yes, I will be using a trailer more then once, so purchasing a enclosed trailer is probably the way to go.

Try big tex trailers, purchased a 7x 12 trailer open with ramp gate new for 1,800.oo dollars. Move my 2006 gold wing trike California side car conversion. Any thing Needs to be move put it on trailer. Move othe bike from the west coast to South, wind & rain no problem. Don't use a cover with a open trailer, bike designed to be rode in bad weather. Enjoy your trike!!
