I'm kicking around the idea of adding a GW trunk for the passenger and more storage.
How do you think it will look on the VTX trike?

Do you need something on there all of the time? Your trike looks awesome the way it sits.
5thwheel may be on to something - there are aftermarket trunks in many styles you can checdk out. Many I've seen have some kind of plate mount that is detachable. I see from your pic you have a luggage rack. You can get a rack or sissy bar bag from Kuryakyn, T-Bags, TourMaster, etc. in may sizes, some expandable, some break dorn into various size bags you can use on thier own..

Here is a pretty interesting site for luggage and bags:
Motorcycle Luggage - Motorcycle Luggage Superstore
It can give you some idea of what is out there.

I added a top trunk to my DFT kit (similar in appearance to your trike), which was difficult because the existing trunk in the kit is top-opening. Even though it was a messy job making a swing-up frame to allow access, the extra carrying capacity is fantastic. (easier to look at pics in my profile) I'd say 'go for it' you won't regret the extra luggage space.

Very nice job. Looks like it was made for the bike. What brand trunk is that. Gorgeous, just beautifully done.
I'll jump in here and take a guess: That appears to be a Harley Davidson Tour-Pac. The shape is right, and HD seems to be the one of the few (if not the only) that open from the side like that. Couldn't tell you the year, though. The MoFoCo has changed them a bit over time.
Great job there Puff. Looks sweet. Now I'm wondering they work that kit with the Valk Interstate - it comes with the upper trunk as a 2 wheeler.

Here's a source for motorcycle "trunks". They have 6 different brands & looks like some pretty good prices.
Motorcycle Trunks (Powered by CubeCart)
NM
the hinges give it away as a Harley. The link NM provides shows a DMY trunk. that what I have on my trike. With all options it was $160 on e-bay. I've had it for over a year and really like it.
Stallion #406 // 2013 Tri-Glide
You're dead right, it looks exactly like a HD trunk, but I didn't buy it as HD. The trunk was purchased from Scootworks ( Motorcycle Accessories, motorcycle parts, Belt Drives, lowering kits, handlebar risers ) in the States . I might add, the service was a bit on the slow side, not only for me, but for two others who made purchases from that company... might just be an 'international thing', but if you're considering dealing with them, insist on prompt service.
But that aside, every time I see the bucks you pay, not only for trikes, but for bits and pieces, I really envy you guys with all this trike stuff on your doorstep... my trunk, landed in Australia with the top-rack cost me A$1500.oo

WOW it is a know off of the HD trunk. I bet they did a reverse mold off of one.
Stallion #406 // 2013 Tri-Glide
It definitely is a copy of the HD trunk, I found that out when parked next to a HD on a ride. But I will say the construction of the trunk I purchased from Scootworks is really rugged, 1/4" thick fibre-glass on the bottom, and very well made. Even though it was costly, the storage space and appearance certainly make up for the dent in my finances.
Apart from the benefit of extra storage on long rides, I was never really 'big' on the appearance of just a sissy bar... The trunk gives the trike a lot more 'presence' on the road, and I will be adding lights to it in the future for an additional safety factor... Apart from triking being the best thing since sliced bread, I've also realized that my finances have taken a serious downward plunge.. My wish list just keeps growing every time I look at the trike... sigh

Amazon.com: HONDA VTX 1800 1300 SHADOW MAGNA VALKYRIE LUGGAGE TRUNK: Automotive
this VIP trunk looks pretty cool and it should install with min. hair pulling, Price sure seems right!! like the way it sits now but additional storage is always good to have!! beautiful trike
Depends on what you want to carry, but keep in mind "you get what you pay for". The price is great (I paid over $400 for mine at a dealer! ), and it looks nice, but if you can afford it I'd recommend going for one of the sturdier HD-ish ones. The VIP is - in my opinion - a bit on the flimsy side, and not very roomy.
I got mine to have someplace to lock up my helmet when I'm off the trike so I don't have to carry it around because the helmet won't fit in the lower trunk of the trike. It serves the purpose, but just barely - I can fit the FF or the 3/4 in it IF it's positioned just right, but the cover scratches the top of the helmet, so I have to put a cloth over the top of it before closing it. And if the helmet is in there, there's little space for much of anything else. I posted pics in my profile. It's also had to be rewired twice, because they use very thin wires that break or pull out easily from being bumped by things. Oh, and the lock is just plain cheap.
That being said and taking the helmet fit out of the equation, I've actually carried a couple of days worth of groceries in it (light meats, veggies, breads - that type of thing), but I wouldn't trust it with anything too heavy...say, multiple 2liter sodas, gallon jugs of milk, etc. I've even been able to fit an overnight bag with a couple days clothing in it using space-saver bags (the type that you roll to "squeeze" the air out).
