extended ride question
Knowing that everyone is different, just wondering...when you go for an extended ride (more than, say, 200 miles or overnight or multiple nights), how far do you ride in one day?
Also, what is your travel routine? Stop to stretch every hour? 2 hours? Only for fuel?

If Liz is riding by herself and I am on my bike 400 miles is a good day. We prefer backroads so if multiple days on backroads we stop alot to sightsee and prefer 200 mile days. If I need to be somewhere by myself 800-1000 miles.

Our once a year guy trip was the week of Memorial Day. We left on Sunday and returned on Saturday. We traveled 2000 miles. 1998 for me. I usually plan the first day as the longest. Around 400 to 450 miles. The rest of the days range between 250 and 350 miles. I plan more for time than mileage. We hit the road at 8:00AM and I plan on having us off the road no later than 4:00PM. Most of the time it works, but sometimes we run over depending on what we're doing during the day. Pit stops, breaks, gas stops, pictures and side trips. I also ride mostly rural roads, unless I don't have a choice and have to be on the slab for a short time. This seems to work out for us old farts. We run between 60 and 78 years old.

We did 300 miles for a poker run yesterday. Our first good day of riding on the trike, and it didn't seem bad at all. The group did spend a little longer at the stops than we would have liked, so I think we could do a 500 mile day without much problem. We have done 500 mile days on the two wheeler in the past.
My wife rides the Stallion I ride my TRI. We usually go around 375 to 425 per day. The TRI has to stop more then the Stallion. We have made several long rides from 3000 miles to 10000 miles. No issues.

Thanks for all the input. Enjoying my Stallion and plotting and planning longer rides. Don't want to go too crazy too fast...your thoughts are helping me plan appropriately.
It really depends on how much riding you are use to. The first month of riding season I try to keep it around 200 to 250 miles a day. After you get a little seat time in you can go longer. We are on a trip now and we are putting in anywhere fro 300 to 400 miles a day. Good luck with your riding.
Riding solo I usually put in 6-800 miles and 2 up I try to keep it to 500. I have done just under 900 riding 2 up once but, the weather was perfect for riding, overcast and about 75 degrees out.

Florida to Alaska and back twice
Just returned from a 2nd jaunt to Alaska. Had 12 bikers follow me. For them I only averaged 500 miles a day but on the solo return had multiple 700+ mile days.
Learned a lesson from first trip (had done this 8 times on Gold Wing and 4 times on Silver Wing) and put a mesh screen around my cruise control switch as it failed first trip due to stones.
Brake light switch failed up in Fairbanks (2nd time) and my service technician is installing a new one and will look for a way to protect it. Will post solution.

On the brake light switch, TBMS came out with an upgraded one several years ago, much better than the standard Ford Ranger switch. The factory may send you one if you give them a call.

Lots of variables here.
Are you riding solo? I usually do and can go 350 to 400 miles per day with a break every hour. Have pushed that to make a 500 mile trip in one day to visit relatives.
Of course it depends on the comfort of your seat, too, plus air cushion, gel pad, beads, or wool cushion you've added.
I can make better time on the Interstates but prefer to use the back roads when possible. And if time isn't a big factor, it's always more fun to see the sights at a nice pace than to make a mad dash from point A to point B.
Group ride
I used to ride solo for the first two years but for the past 12 years it has been group rides. Due to the eclectic nature of the group I have had to compromise and do an average of less than 500 miles a day. I do like to takes time and enjoy each day to its fullest.
