Hi all,

Just joined the group. I am new to the trike world. I ride a HD Ultra Classic and added a Voyager Kit as my legs are starting to weaken due to MD. I certainly find the Voyager make my Harley completely different. I certainly find cornering much harder and totally confusing as to speed and direction. I am wondering if this is true for all trikes or just ones with a Voyager kit. I have very little strength in my upper shoulders and find it hard to turn the bike. I have read that increasing the rake will help the bike to turn. I enjoy riding and am not ready to give it up. I love to ride with a group known as the Rainmakers, they are about the ride and not what you ride. I hope to become more knowledgeable about trikes. Thanks for letting me join this group.

Dwiht, welcome to the board. There is already a thread on the voyager kit some like it some don't. There is also a thread on raking the front end. So just start reading and learning. As stated in the thread the Voyager kit does not handle no where near like a trike kit. But everyone has to stay within their means. Ask questions and read there are a lot of good people on the board that will help you.

I think you will find that most trike kits are better than the Voyager, I did a lot of research when I started looking for a kit and there were a lot of problems with the Voyager from what others have said. I never tried one myself. Wayne

One of the benefits to a Voyager (or Tow-Pac) is the ability to return the motorcycle to the original. If you rake it you won't be able to remove the Voyager (or I guess you could, it just wouldn't be safe).

Raking does make for easier handling at low speeds and cornering.

Hi dwiht ("Big Sky") and welcome to the tricycle group! Hope you can get some of your questions answered and give us your insight as well. All my buddies that ride bikes ask me how a trike handles compared to 2 wheels, and the best answer I've come with is it's like riding a 4 wheeler (ATV). You steer and lean, but the leaning is for you, not the trike. Most of the conversions ride really well and are comfortable. The rake is sorta like power steering and in theory, the greater the rake, the easier it will turn. I personally don't have a rake, but from what you said I can see where it would benefit you. Maybe with a little luck we can get you hooked up with someone that would let you "test" one.
Really glad to have you, and try to post us a photo or two of your ride. Give us a little Pro/Con about that Voyager so we can hear first hand. I'm sure there's a lot of people here that are curious. Ride Safe...
