Kevin, you do some more riding. I am envious of all the time you get to ride. Of course it "testing new products" right?
wishing it was me

Just beginning our ride together
Yes, we are fortunate. I work 7 days a week when not on trips, and then work everyday while on the trips, so even with the trips we are able to take, I still work a 70 week year. But we are very fortunate to have that flexibility.
And, yes, the miles I ride are always testing new products, meeting Customers, etc.
The first 3000 miles of this trip I was testing some new slip-ons that I had installed the day before leaving. They looked good...at least I thought so. But they SUCKED wind performance wise.
Fortunately I was not sure of them and had shipped my tried and true slip-ons to Idaho. Installed them there and have been very happy with the performance since.

Our PM's have been mostly about keeping oil temps down. I am still not happy with my oil cooler or oil temps. The above info is more about top end temps and performance.
Below is what I've done for the top end temps and performance-
I do not believe good performance, heat reduction, good MPG, come from any one thing. Lots of little things, working well together, can make a bike run well.
Additional things I have done that contribute to good performance and good MPG-
Excessive heat is a BIG performance/MPG robber. I consider anything over 230* off the front cylinder heat sensor excessive.
Below is a list of what I've done to reduce heat & boost performance-
My own slip-on's (with TTI's) that I made that are ridiculously simple. Most any free flowing slip-on with a de-catted header and some TTI's will be better than stock for felt heat and increased performance
Outlaw 587 Air Cleaner
Tank Lift, good for about 10* temp reduction
Removal of left side thigh shield, allows the air to circulate around the rear of the rear cylinder better.
Ward Fans, good for anywhere between 60* (in stop-n-go on a hot day) to 10* at highway speeds in temp reduction.
An oil cooler. The one I'm running is not that great, but good for about 20* cooler oil, which will contribute a little to a lower cylinder temp.
A Premium Discrete External Breather system. With this, no hot, oily (carbon forming), oxygen depleted air is going into the cylinders.
A reusable oil filter. This lubricates better, filters better, and regarding performance, it is less drag on the oil pump, meaning more power to the rear tires. It also has a very slight cooling effect due to the fins built into it.
There are a couple of things that I could do (and have done in the past) that would increase the power AND the MPG even more.
I am running a Tall windshield right now, taller than stock (because of the anticipated weather on this trip I'm on). A lower windshield, like the LRS Stealth nets me and extra 1-2 MPG.
Running 26 PSI will also increase power AND MPG. I've tried it...just don't like how rough it rides with that much PSI in them.

I have decided to go with a set of Love Jugs cool master fans but they will not sell them to me because I have a 14 trike and they do not have a frame mount kit for this trike yet. They said the new water cooled engines shake a lot more than the air cooled trikes. They will not sell them without the frame mount because the fan mount will break. They have told me they should have the new frame mount ready any day and they will send one to me as soon as they are available.
