Ok, I was warned about this from other trike owners, read so much about it here on the forum, so I figure I must of had a cranial malfunction.

Stop for gas today on my '12 Goldwing Roadsmith trike and there was a older car at the back pump, so I went around the front of him and guess what, cut the corner to short and clipped the front bumper of the car..........................what-a-Dork

It was just a big scuff mark on my trike with no paint damage or dents.
Talking to the owner of the car, he said don't worry, it's a 12 year old car with lots of scratches so a couple more wouldn't hurt, super nice understanding guy.

I was so embarrassed I went home, took polishing and rubbing compound and got 90% of it buffed out.
You would have to look at the rear fender really close to notice any scratches .

Yep you guys are right.
Drove by the same filling station today and mentally lots of bells and whistles went off all at the same time, I think I even felt my Goldwing shutter a little................LOL

Thats how we learn. you are luck that you are learning at a low expense. Could have been a expensive ride and then insurance and all.

I feel your pain. the same thing happened to me the first time I went to put gas in the trike. Instead of hitting a car bumper, I brushed up against the concrete filled post that protects the pumps. Like you, I was able to polish out about 95% of the evidence. Lesson learned for sure.

A lot more of us then might admit have a mark or 3 on both fenders and the bottoms of our running boards.

This isn't just a Gold Wing issue, us Harley riders have issues with the outriggers too ... Although I've never hit anything, I did nudge a person who was smoking at the bowling alley ... forgot how wide Fat Bottom Girl's Bottom really was ... the guy laughed and said, "don't worry about it grandpa" ... ... would of rather scratched some paint ... but as been stated before ... you do learn from it ... I now give everything, and everyone a wide berth, just to be safe.

I will admit though, my buddy has a Gold Wing trike, not sure which kit, but his makes Fat Bottom Girl look like a little boy ... that's one wide trike he has ...

It's a scary thought to recall that on more than one occasion I've come 'just sooooooo close' to a scuff, scrape or direct crunch - all just fractions of an inch apart in severity!

$$$$'s will fix all but the most severe hit - it takes much more than that to heal our 'wounded pride'!
