Insurance went up on cars but not my motorcycles. Of course, the wife got a speeding ticket last year which affected the cars. I have always heard (and even from insurance agents) that you should shop your insurance at least every three years.

My insurance stayed the same. I shop every year and so far Progressive on the Trikes has been the cheapiest for me in the Florida Keys. I pay $400 for the HD 700 for the Stallion and 300 for the Honda. I think the price difference among my three is because of the different engine sizes, 1800, 2300, 1500

I had been paying around $750.00 a year for my '08 Ultra with progressive. After I added the Champion kit it was going over $1000.00 unless I increased my deductible to $1000.00. I called GEICO Monday and spoke with their Power Sports Rep. who told me they had teamed up with Harley Davidson and were offering good deals. They gave me the extra coverage for the trike plus an additional $2000.00 to cover chrome add on's etc. for $308.00 a year!!! I also insured my auto with them and only reduced that premium by $21.00 a year but it got me an additional 5% off on the trike for multiple policies.

I understand GEICO loaned HD a pile of money so HD could continue to offer financing for motorcycle sales.

My Foremost insurance went up about $5 a month. Mine seems to be a little higher than most folks, but still a bargain should something happen. I was told it was probably a "trike rate" adjustment. Must be!!

My '07 Yamaha Roadstar runs $235.00 ane the '95 Wing trike is 263.00 with Progressive. Really happy with the insurance. Had a wreck in '08 and another in '09 and they took care of it like a wealthy relative.

Progressive was 700 a year, blew an engine and had to have it replaced. Went up to 1150 year. That was last year and this year they wanted 1250. I shopped around and got more coverage from Allstate for $349 a year.
    Insurance, what a racket.

Thanks for all the info as I was also in the process of buying insurance. Here's my experience in Arkansas.

I have a 06 Goldwing, with a new Hannigan kit.
Full coverage policy valued at $30,000 for bike and kit, with another $2,000 additional accessories.
Liability $100,000 each person/$300,000 each accident
    Property Damage $50,000
    Collision Deductible $500
    Comp. Deductible $500
    Tow/Road Service $8

I waived un-insured/under-insured and Personal Injury (I have good health ins.)

I have a clean record and trike will be garaged.

    Progressive was $549/yr
    Geico was $243/yr

i just bought the spyder in October so I don't have a full year to compare. But for full coverage on the spyder & liability on my two wheeler (250cc) it's $465.00 for this year. One thing different though, the progressive rep asked me if I actually had an m/c lisc. Rep said it was a new question for them. Honestly I don't remember if I answered this question when I started with them 3 bikes ago, but they took an additional $50 off my bill for being legal. So if you have progressive it might be worth a phone call to check this out.

I never realized the cost of insurance had this much "spread" across the companies. I pay $304/year for the trike and the trailer, $250 deductible and $3000 accessory coverage with Progressive. Progressive doesn't care if it's a two or a three wheeler. Mine did not change a penny when I converted it to a trike. The Trike is $263 and the trailer is $41.

When I had inquired with AARP (Hartford) concerning my auto insurance, they were almost 50% higher than State Farm, so I never inquired again. I may call them back as I saw a VERY CHEAP rate from AARP listed above.

AARP is always higher than a private agent. Every time I ask for a quote they are always more money. My agent put me with Foremost which is also the AARP bike insurance. And she blew them away. Go figure. I think Hartford and Foremost have to kick back a large sum to AARP. They just pass it on in higher premiums. Tom

I went through Progressive and got a pretty good deal from what the others were going to charge me. I got $503 a year for full coverage. They insured the bike as a bike and insured the trike kit as an accessory. They said it saved me close to $100 doing it that way. That's a lot more coverage and a lower deductible than I had from the Harley Dealer and for only about $60 more a year for the whole trike. That and it adds roadside assistance. I am pretty happy with that deal.

I had Progressive for 8 years on two bikes over that time period. One accident 3 years ago that they took care of pretty decently. However every year they kept adding more & more to the rate of the policy. This year I checked with Allstate and they saved me almost $400 outright by switching to them. I also have the house and cars insured with em so got the multi policy savings there too.
Had checked with them in the past but they're now insuring trikes.

Starwing. I use Allstate in NC. Please review this thread and you may find your state listed, or an insurance company to call. I have found sometimes one company will insure it in one state but not another because the Agent does not know how to list the Stallion. Over time, as the Stallions become more popular it will be a no-brainer. The difficultly lies in some Companies not having the Stallion listed as a Stallion. I know my company lists it as something other than a Stallion. My agent had to call the parent company to find out how to enter it into the computer. I am about to re-price my policy, I am paying about $400 for full coverage for the year.

I used Progressive for my Gold Wing Trike, because State Farm would not insured the conversion part of the bike (for replacement value, that is). But when I bought the Stallion, I talked to our State Farm agent and they would insure the Stallion for value. I pay $200 every 6 months for full coverage. I also live in Florida.

I have Progressive with a Honda 1100 Shadow and I just entered information for a quote for adding a 2010 Stallion and there was a $1,889.00 increase!! Wow. For comparison I entered in information for a 2010 Spyder and there was a $1,408.00 increase. And I have a clean record too. Looks like it will most likely be a Voyager kit for me.

Does anyone know if Progressive will want to insure my Voyager kit differently or do I just need to increase my 'accessories' coverage? Thanks for any input.

Jim Peacock, I just noticed this string and can tell you to check your credit report. Foremost checks the credit report rating every year and if it goes down your insurance rate goes up. They feel that people with poor credit ratings are a greater risk for making claims. I have seen thirty percent increases in peoples rate due to home repros etc. Crazy huh?
