So I've decided to finally populate my old youtube channel with videos I'll be taking on rides. Not necessarily amazing rides all the time, but hopefully entertaining! I'd like to grow it into doing rolling product reviews, movie reviews, and just me babbling on about whatever comes to mind while riding around NW Arkansas.

As soon as I get my 2nd GoPro helmet mount, I'll be moving it and the mic to my full-face so the wind noise won't be an issue.

Nice job on filming MM.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but the audio needs some fine tuning. It was hard to hear even with the volumes cranked up to max, although my wife claims I need hearing aids so mebbe its just me!

What kind of mic you using? How does it mount to the go pro? Is it still waterproof?

I picked up from Amazon the Olympus ME-52W Microphone along with the GoPro mic adapter.

The crummy thing about it is that you have to literally drill a hole into the side of the clear, waterproof GoPro case to make this work. So no, it's not still waterproof, but with some strategic drilling, you can be sure it'll still hold up against rain. What I mean by this is that you only need the hole to be just big enough to fit the adapter's 1st rubber bit in, and the next rubber bit is just a bit wider in diameter, which essentially seals up the hole so I'm really not worried about the rain getting in while riding. To do this, I drilled marked about the size I'd need on the case, drilled a smaller hole, and then bit by bit widened it using a small, cone-shaped dremel sanding head and just kept trying to fit the connector in as I was making the hole. So it's a very tight fit.

Here's a pic of the adapter so you can see what I mean by the different diameters on the plug. The one pictured on Amazon does not match what they actually send, which is the one below.

Yah I picked a REALLY bad time of day for the ride.. and apparently the GoPro uses a LOT more juice while it's paired up with the iPhone because the battery died as I was getting on the freeway at the end there.. I was not a happy camper!

However, there really wasn't much to see at the "bikini bike wash".. too hot outside and nobody, including myself, were getting bikes washed!


I think you're seeing the parking brake behind the floorboard?

I know nada on go-pro's, but don't they have a 12v. option for power?
If not, that is something they should look into for their users that like to operate beyond an hour or whatever the normal battery range is...

The power cord is a usb connector, so a 12v usb adapter works fine, but I worry about rain and waterproofing ... can't remember the last trip I made without rain.

If you're pretty careful and take your time with the drilling, the plug comes pretty darn close to sealing the hole.. waterPROOF? no.. but I'm not worried about rain at all with it like this.
