    Default CSC & Honda remote control question

    I have a 2012 CSC conversion. I noticed that the blinking lights that let you know the trunk is closed or not do not operate anymore. My installer said they worked on older models but not on 2012 or newer unless you do some rewiring.
    I called CSC and the manage (missed his name) said he is not aware of it. As far as he knew they should work. He is going to look into it and get back with me.

    As far as I know every manufacture has the ability to make the door open warning function. If your installer chose not to connect it then maybe someone at company level needs to inspire him to do the job correctly. I looked on their site and couldn't find any install manuals so can't show you where and how. I agree with your installer about having to do some wire maintenance but that is part of the fee he charged you to do the conversion.

    Ok--clarification, please. You mention the remote control in your title. Are you asking about the flashing taillights when you LOCK your trunk and tourpack with the remote control? Or are you asking about the flashing display indicator that tells you your trunk and/or tourpack are OPEN?

    My new CSC conversion flashes only the tourpack lights when I lock the bike with the remote--but it locks both the trunk and tourpack.

    If my trunk is open (or not closed tightly enough) both side saddlebag indicators flash as open on the dash display. The tourpack indicator works just as it did on the 2-wheeler.

    Ok--I guess maybe I don't interpret the flashes the same as you. I always thought 1 flash was lock and 2 was you'd unlocked--or vice versa--I don't know for sure. I just thought if you got 1 or 2 flashes it was an acknowledgement the command was received. And isn't there a difference between "closed" and "locked"?

    Regardless--if you don't get any flash at all front or rear that's not right. Your front and tourpack lights should still flash with the remote--at least they do on my new CSC.

    And I take it your Goldwing (not kit) is a 2012 or newer?

    No--the donor bike is a 2010.

    Going back to your first post..... If your installer said they did work on earlier models (which you '10 should qualify as) then the obvious question for him is when are going to fix this problem.

    I emailed my Installer yesterday And asked him to call California side car and ask for a fix. I told him I Believe it should be a warranty issue and CSC Should be billed. I need to bring it to him next week for a non related issue, so hopefully i can get it resolved by then. I'm going with the "catch more flies with honey" attitude. Always worked in the past.

    Agreed--I've most always had good results being reasonable with people instead of pounding on the table and shouting demands. I figure I've got a long-term relationship with my installer now and we're working through some issues on my conversion, too--I'll need their help over the long haul. I think most of these guys want you to be happy with their work and will do their best for you if you treat them with some respect.

    Best of luck on this--let us know how it goes.

    Received an email from my installer. He said he will repair My lights when I bring it in next week. It's stupid but why do I feel guilty now.*

    Because good people don't want to be perceived as complainers. But you deserve to have things work the way they were intended so no guilt necessary.

    Ok the latest on the remote issue.
    This morning I turn the key to the on position and the right blinker is blinking. I try to cancel it and it will not cancel by pushing straight in, I have to manually set it to the center position. It will not self cancel when riding either. Now after that I found that if the switch (with the bike on or off) is in either the right or left blinker mode it will flash the lights for that side blinker only. if you center (cancel) the switch I get no flash when I lock the trunk with the remote. I'm hoping that it is only the actual switch giving me the problem. I sprayed it but made no difference. I'm not even sure if the spray got into it. It may have to be taken apart. I guess I will be bringing it to my dealer to perform some warranty work on it.

    Since the actual conversion wiring is plug and play I'm starting to think that it is not related to the work but just a weird coincidence.
