Honda v Harley

Don't want to get anyone "upset" but---

I am riding pretty regular with 8 friends who ALL have Harleys (2 wheel)

The normal turn around is like this---we ride for a good day or two. When we return my Harley freinds spend a day tightning things up and whatever maintenence or repairs that need to be done before their next ride.

I on the other hand, turn off the key, spray off the bugs and wait till they are ready for the next ride.

Best come-back ever!

Honestly this is an apples to oranges comparison. There are many reasons a person picks a particular brand over another. I have ridden almost all types and brands of bikes and each have their own pluses and minuses. I actually own my Harley only because my son has one and we went to a Harley dealer who had a trike at a decent price that appealed to my wife. I had been looking at the wings at the time. I am happy with the bike so far but I know it is not a wing and do not expect it to be one. If I was going to be doing long trips, I might have changed my mind but for now, I am enjoying the ride!

I have ridden/owned both in two wheel flavors and three wheeled flavors.

People ask, is the Harley more powerful ... Nope, Is the Harley more comfortable ... Nope, Is the Harley longer lasting ... Nope, So why do you ride a Harley? I always tell them the same thing.

When I ride past a group of people on a gold wing ... not many if any notice. When I ride past the same group of people on a Harley ... they all notice. Half are P$ssed off because of the noise and half love the gleaming chrome engine and the rumble, brings back their youth. Although, the noise thing is not an as much an issue with my tri. The E-Series Fuel Moto mufflers are very quiet. I really happen to like the Nostalgic look and feel of the Harley.

Will I ever ride a Gold Wing again??? Yep ... If I could find a 2020 GL1800 DCT with and IRS in white that I could afford ... I would be on it like white on rice ( See what I did there? White Gold Wing ... Rice Burner :D ).

I agree. It is the state of mind your bike puts you in for YOUR enjoyment not that of others. If you like the older school look, sound and feel of the Harley Davidson then that is all the matters!

I can still remember my first Harley. I had always had Yamaha or Hondas until my 50's when I traded a Yamaha Raider for a one year old Ultra Classic.

Those Raiders were really fast. When I took off on the Ultra Classic and fired down on that throttle my first thought was "half the motor was missing". It was a true dog compared to what I had been used to. But it grew on me and for 20 years I have only owned Harleys.

There are pros and cons to both. From my perspective I think Harleys hold their value better, are very dependable, and easy to do maintenance on. In 48 years of motorcycle ownership I have only broken down once and that was on a brand new Honda 750 with less than 1,500 miles on the ticker.
