Looking good...
Got bored due to bad weather. Had some pipe and parts of a 1 1/4 inch trailer hitch. made a 1 1/4 inch male mount and used 3/4 inch conduit with 3/4 inch oak dowels inside. i think it will handle some speed with no problem. Here is a photo of it almost finished. We are paining it blue with Cherokee Indian symbol's.
Very easy to make and gave me something to do for a short while.
What you think?

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
Looks great, good job!

Never ride faster than your angel can fly !
I was at walmart several months ago and a Spanish looking fellow was trying to remove my American flag. I waled up to him and all he heard was a click. I have never seen anyone run so fast. He heard my sog open. I'm glad he ran because I didn't want to have to replace my sog knife. My motto is use once and replace.

Or, rackin a shell into a 12 gauge.
Dirtdobber, Recently installed a hitch on our Tglide and sure would be interested in seeing how you adapted that hitch if you have the time.
Wish I had a garage that size. Don't even have a backyard that size. Don't have much yard work either, so more time for riding if it ever cools down.

What I did was simple but has showed through the years to be worthy.
I added a solid 12 inch round steel in the bottom of the mask, pole. It was a tight fit. Had to press it in. I tappered the bottom so it would almost go through the hole but not all the way through. I welded it on the bottom of the hole and steel rod. I weled at the base of pole and flat mount to hold the conduit in place. No strenght is really needed. It only keeps the solid insert and conduit from sliding apart. I then added 3/4 inch oak dowels, one piece. That is pretty much it.
Ill take a photo later on for you. Not hard at all if you have access to a welder and saw.
I used a standard 1 1/4 inch straight male receiver. No cutting is needed. Use as is.

Okay, Took it on it's first trip. First here it is after 452 miles with speeds from 60-65 mph, mostly with a few 90 to triple digits speeds. Took a licking and kept on ticking.
My wife did the colors, boy is it bright. If some one claims they can't see this they have not reason to be out.
I put 5 coats of automotive wheel clear paint on it to keep it looking good.
I guess the R&D is finished. LOL

Dirtdobber, I can't visualize what you're trying to say in your original post. A close-up pic sure would help.
Thanx, as I'd like to add a good size American flag to the Tglide.

I should be home sometimes tomorrow. I will take some photos for you. With how I did it. If you have access to a welder and a saw its fairly easy.

Okay got some photos for better understanding.
I took 2 photos for visual understanding. One finished and one that is nothing but How it is done. Not sized.
Weld a solid piece and tapered on the end to just barely slip almost through the ball hole on the hitch.
The metal rod that is used on the bottom of the mask is a pressure fit into the pole. Has to be knocked in or a press.
Leave a 1/4 inch gap between the hitch and pole leaving the solid rod exposed. Weld all 3 pieces together.
Purchase a oak dowel 3/4 inch or what ever size you are going to use. 3/4 conduit use 3/4 inch dowel, 1 inch conduit, use a 1 inch dowel etc
This pole was made from scraps. The only thing I bought was the dowel. It was $14. Remember use a oak dowel. 2 eyelets at $o.98 each
Even the conduit is 2 pieces together and welded. There is a solid steel 16 inches long at the joints and welded. The 1/4 inch male receiver is 1 inch angle and 1 /14 inch angle steel welded. I prefer to make my own, I use nothing less than 1/4 inch thick. I prefer solid.
The flat plate is what was left over from using the 1 1/4 square male receiver on another project. Trailer
I have around $17-20 in it and some welding.

Thankx Dirtdobber, those really explain a lot. I have a hitch laying around from an old trailer that I sold, but I can can dig up the rest here and there. Somebody in this community likely has a welder. Ma and I like to hop on the bike and search out junk.....I mean antique stores in our neck of the woods.
Thanks again for the pix.
