How much weight do you carry on your Tour Pack Rack?
I need to carry as much as I can. Luggage for the rack would
hold a lot.

I think they are rated for 16 or 18#, but I've put way more on it. Just be careful opening with it loaded, easy to stress the tour pak.
HD makes and sells Heavy Duty hinges, so why didn't they use these to start with Surprise, Surprise. More Money, More Money

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Not sure the Strength of the hinges would be the issue {Altho the beefier ones do look better}. The problem is that they are bolted to Fiberglass / Plastic or whatever the damn things are made of. Small bolts and thin-ish tour Pak would be the week point. I usually pack all the jackets and Rain gear on the rack. They are the most bulky - take up a lot of space and for their size, relatively light.
According to the sticker on mine it is 10 lbs.
10 lbs on my tour pak luggage rack also. If you want to "load it up" go ahead, just beware that the heavy load can and will crack the lid and tour pak....with or without the heavy-duty hinges. Ask me how I know

I load up the rack pretty heavy sometimes. I reckon I've ridden with 30 #'s on it, with another 40 or 50 inside the Tour Pak.
Never had a problem (but I am very careful opening and closing the TP Lid when it's loaded), and have ridden on some pretty bad roads that way.
I do use a larger washer or strap on the inside when mounting the rack, that way it spreads the pressure over a larger area.
btw, every TP I've had is relocated 2+ inches further back also.

Our tourpack has been moved back 2" with the DK Customs relocator and I have loaded a Kuryakan bag on the rack AND loaded the tourpack. Once all is loaded and secured, I don't touch it until we get to our daily destination. Our trike is a 2010.
Yes, it only helps with the footprint on the inside of the lid, but that is better than nothing.
Below is a link to a thread where you can see how to move the TP back on the newer TG's without spending anything, or you can get a TP relocation kit HERE.

You can see in this thread what we have loaded in and on the TP and the beating it took up in the Yukon and the road to the arctic circle.
