Disappointed With the BT-45

Must say I am disappointed with the BT 45 that I purchased last year. Only 13,000 on the tire down to 4/32 tread remaining, serious cupping, and howling like a truck tire. After reading post after post, pro and con, I decided to mount it in reverse. Ordered a new one, ( gonna try it one more time) mount it the standard way and see what happens.

Anyone else have issues with this tire lately?

What were you running for AIR pressure??

Run your air pressure to 40/41 LBS. There are 100's of folks running them. You are the first complaint I have read that didn't like them. I read many pages on tires before I bought mine. I have 7,000 miles on mine and it looks like the day I put it on. Rear tire on front mounted in reverse. Lots of folks reporting 30,000 miles! No signs of cupping. Did you have it Balanced? Weights or beads?

Ran 41 lbs at all times. Balanced of course. No beads. I am a fanatic about correct air pressure.

Like Cavi, I've run the BT45 (rear) on the front for many happy miles and never had the problems the OP talks about. Hope the second BT45 works for a better ride.

If it has bad cupping your behind on servicing the tire. The first sign of cupping you should have increased the psi. I am using 42 psi in mine. You can raise the psi to the max and not be concerned. I only have 4,000 miles on it so I am unable to respond how it will do later on. It is smoother than the factory tire by a long shot. I had it balanced and beads installed. The beads will keep it balanced through out the life of the tire as where balancing will not.

I just removed mine about a month ago for severe cupping and like yours it was howling like a banshee. I tried running 38 psi in it with Centramatics and the Centramatics didnt make one bit of difference. The tire still chewed itself up. Well I wound up putting on the new Avon trike tire. What a world of difference. That tire is so quiet and smooth and on the highway you dont get the road feedback like you do with a bias -ply tire. For my money I would try the Avon. I know even if I get only 10,000 out of the Avon Ill put another one on just because it does ride and handle great.

The 13,000 miles is still better than the 6 to 7,000 miles you would have gotten with the stock Bridgestone
radial at about 1/2 the price.

I know..... That is correct. To answer some of the other comments,,,,, I checked my tire often, and never ran over 41 PSI because with this Hannigan kit with spacers and Progressive shocks my suspension is about as firm as I can stand. I'm just glad someone else had this issue. I was beginning to think it was just me.

I'll see what this new BT 45 does. I'm going to mount it in normal position and see if that makes any difference. We will see.
