Default HD pullback bars vs. Werks 2x2 Narrow sweeper bars

Just trying to see which bars people like the best. I am going to have to get these bars. My upper back and neck are "just" starting to unknot ( so to speak). I just can't decide which one's would be better.

reading the blogs it looks like 4-5 hours is the normal time for the dealer to switch them out. So we are talking 400-500 dollars labor.

Any and all other information you have would be appreciated.

I've got the HD pullback bars on mine. Put them on about a month ago. My shoulders want to kiss them on occasion.

As far as the 2+2, I wish I'd knew about them at the time. Of course, you always want more than what you've got.

And, yes, it cost $900 total to put mine on. I did have them do a couple of other things while they had it apart though.

My HD pullbacks were $149.99 ($134.99 w/my discount) and dealership install labor was $184.97... Total cost $319.96 yepper, I wouldn't ride w/out them..if I should trade up

from our 2013 to a newer model I will definitely get the pullbacks again.

We must live in a different space/time continuum here or something. Even with the local independent Harley mechanics, the cheapest I was able to get was $750 to put on the handlebars.

I chose to go with the higher price at the dealership because any work I get done in the first 60 days of ownership is covered under the new bike ownership. And I bought the five year warranty so it's covered there as well.

My total install price was around $310, 150 for the 2" pullbacks from HD and 1 1/2 hours labor at the dealership, no new cables were used.

I did have them install my Ward's fans and a dedicated switch to them on the dashboard, but I don't recall there being much more. I'm going to have to look over my receipt to see what all I did get charged for now. I know the switch was less than a hundred bucks, and only got charged a 1/2 hour labor for it because everything was already apart.

Still though, when I told the shade tree guy what Harley was quoting me, it surprised him that they were that low, because of what he had to charge. I even called another local mechanic, and they were right in line with the other guy in price.

I reckon in my area, they all stick together to screw you.

    Thumbs up Not that hard

I changed mine myself I did have a shop manual and a lot of help from the forums remember harleys come apart in layers. If you can change a tire on your car you can change bars. The only tool I did not have was ball end allen wrenches for radio removal. take your time follow the directions and you can do it yourself. wrench carefully fearless

I think the OP was not only asking about prices but impressions of the two types of bars. On my last bike (an Electra Limited) I put the CW 2+2’s and loved them! Huge difference in wrist angle and comfort. Changed the whole way I enjoyed the bike.

I bought my Tri with HD extended reach bars installed by the previous owner and they’re awful! The wrist angle is horrible for a three wheeler and downright painful on a full lock left turn trying to hold the clutch lever in. Your wrist is painfully contorted. I plan on the CW 2+2’s this spring and can’t wait.

before you make this costly decision I strongly suggest you find a way to experience both. HD is a great company but the ergonomics of their bars is horrible!

Well, ya know what they say (opinions are like A-holes, everybody has one) lol had the HD pullbacks on every bike I have owned since 03. & on the last 2 trikes. LOVE THEM on the 5000+mile rides we take every year.

    Default Bars

Does anyone have any experience with the Tall Boy bars from HD. Looking at those for my Tri Glide. Seems the 2plus2 are very popular but the pictures I see their a little bit close to you. Just wondering, thanks

The pullback handlebar or as described as the Road King/ Road Glide Reach Bar in the 2020 P&A book is #56166-08.

See page 617 for details(dimensions on page 603).

    Thank you and good night.

Default Try before you buy or in this case 'install'.....

I suggest investing in a fexible gas connector for a gas dryer. At least 48" in length. Then you can pick your bar and knowing its dimensions, you can form it on a bench. Once formed as accurately as you can make it, you can install it over your existing bar and see where it takes you. Its only an inch off. Perfect husband and wife project. Sounds hoaky, but it beats investing three hours labor and the cost of a new bar. Some dealer get 10 hrs labor to install a new bar. Some riders do it two or three times before they find the right result. Hey?!!!

I went to see my chiropractor only to find out that my upper back and knotted neck was due to forward head posture aggravated by the extra weight of my helmet(Shoei RF-1200, 3.5lbs.). At first, I doubted his diagnosis but when I was able to reproduce the condition just by wearing the helmet in my living room for 20 minutes, I became a believer.

Not saying this is always the case, but it turned out to be a lot cheaper than changing the bars($1200.).

    Go figure....
