Handlebar replacement labor and parts cost. Is this about right?

Went to dealer today and spent some time looking at what "bars" best would fit me on my trike. We tried to measure up the Krome werks 2x2 narrow sweeper bars and they seemed to fit the best.

Once we figured they would probably work best they did a quote for me on parts and labor. For the bars, they told me because it's a 2015 trike. They would also have to replace the wires and cables. So you add that to the price of the bar and we are around $450.00 in labor. Then they said install time I'm looking at 6-7 hours. So at 90.00 an hour we are looking at around $1,130-1,200.00 dollars. Does this sound right?

Again, he said anything 2014 and up would have to have this done. The wires are internal on the 2014 and 2015 etc....

Before I do this, I want to make sure this will fix my problem. Would hate to put all this money into it and it not work. So... If you had the Werks 2x2 sweepers put on or the harley reduced reach bars replaced, can you tell me if this has helped with the upper back and or lower neck.

PS. I'm also going by my Physical therapist office in morning to get his "2 cents" on where the bars would be best for me also

Is there any chance you can try a Trike in your Hog Chapter before ya jump - Obviously one with higher bars? And just a heads up - You won't need the brake cable - Plenty of room, will save ya just under a $100. jc

The quote you got is pretty close to what I was quoted ... I figured I'd wait till I got to 25K and do it while they have it apart for the neck bearing grease/inspection. Also I'm trying as many bar combo's on other bikes and trikes I see if the owner will let me sit on it. A few have even offered to let me ride them. When spending that kind of $$, I like to make sure I get what I need/like.

I installed the 2+2 narrow sweepers on my 2014.All I needed was the wire extension. The brake & clutch were long enough. It only took me a little less then 3hours.

For the cost of the manuals I would do it myself it is not that hard videos and all sorts of help is available. I did it just to be able to do it, no special tools are needed just takes time, and work with the service manuals. I installed 2+2 wide sweepers they are a little straighter on the grip my wrists are a little straighter than OEM. Install what fits you for these worked out great.Ride safely fearless

Getting the two inch pull back bars installed, Harley carries them as the reduced reach and move your grip back two inches, you might be able to gain some height via the angle. Dealer wanted almost $1600 for the install, said he had to replace all cables, wires, clutch hose extended...etc. Read on here that you only need the wire extend kit, so went to the Victory dealer, he does service HD's and he is doing the same install for under $500, using just wire extend kit.

I am a short guy. I was thinking thinking of going to the reduced reach bars. I started using a reduced reach seat that was on my cvo street glide. It is a perfect fit for me. That was easy enough.

I went the same route... being only 5'5" I needed more than the stock bars gave me. Dealer quoted $155 parts + 4 hours min labor ($380). An indie shop that does all HD work did it in 2 hours for $67/hr. I supplied the bars and the wire extensions.

These bars do not need brake or clutch hose extensions on the '14s and '15s.

I go back to the dealer now only for warranty work.

They have to pay for those million dollar,boutique dealerships that H-D forced them to build. Before the '08 Depression hit,our local dealer was selling around 350 new units/year. Last year,they only sold 140. Remember when T-shirts were $15-$20? Now,they are $28-$35.

The quote I have on my yet to be delivered trike was $830. Same bars with cables and wires. Maybe check with another dealer or an indy in your area?

What about diff handlebars on the '13 TG's? I've been using stock bars since '06...but am older and shorter now!!!

Mine said that too. I quoted the kit manual that said only '13 an under needed new clutch and brake hoses. He disagreed and said the directions were wrong. I told him if I found out from another dealer it could be done without changing them out, he would pay me back the money.

When it actually got done, the tech told him I was right, and the extra hoses weren't needed. He came to me and ate crow. I told him he ought to listen to his customers every once in a while--especially ones that new how to read directions.

Here is a link to the reduced reach batwing handlebars. If you'll look at the parts needed for the 14 and above, the only thing needed is 10" switch wire extensions. Ask them how it is they know more than Harley does.

I just installed the Khrome Werks 2+2 narrow sweeper bars on my 2015 TriGlide today. Just needed the wire extensions, no clutch or brake cables needed. Took me about 4 hours to install and the ride is great.

I have a sticky feeling on my behind I wonder why? Could it be the dealer was there? They held me up for a week getting cables that would fit. Now you tell me you didn't need them. They got me again.
