not a real biker. I was out and about, just enjoying a little ride when I stopped at the local convenience store for some fuel. A young man came in on his bike and being polite, we exchanged greetings. Apparently, I not only don't ride the right kind of bike, I also do not wear the right clothes. To the real bikers chagrin, I did rub it in that I had made it to Sturgis this year. Fact is, I had been more than once. I am pretty sure I ruined his day. I love being a grumpy old fart, err, rider, yeah that's it, RIDER.......

I had a lot of that happen to me when i has a Spyder.. And some times i couldn't blame them, It did look like a yellow snowmobile..
But anyway back in 08 i pulled up to my sons house and a friend of his was on the driveway with a bike.. And i got that look.. So before he could say a thing, I said nice bike, Is that an 883??...
[I knew it wasn't]....Smoke came out of his ears and in a loud voce he said; ''No its an 1340''.. Gee i said it looks so small.. Well he left in a huff, And i'll bet he went out looking to buy a larger bike the next day ..

He looked over, snarled and yelled "buy American dude". I looked over, smiled and yelled back, " built here in Ohio as@hole". He never said a thing,,,,, just rode off.

I ride a Harley but still think that's a great response. A lot of people did not know the Goldwing was made here up until last year when they moved the Goldwing back to Japan. But still he was shows his intelligence or lack of.

I get it from 2 sides since I ride Honda's and Harley's.
When I get the hip I just say, been riding 52 years and have probably wore out more bikes than you have ever owned, how long you have been riding? All of sudden i get respect. Go figure.

If you ride a motorcycle, you're a biker...scooter, Ural, Honda, etc...period.

I have owned over 50 Harleys, and ride a wild custom FXR and an Indian T3 Terminator, plus an insane 750 Honda chopper in a softail frame with nitrous and a 300 rear tire.

I ride the Honda to the HD shop alot, mostly for feedback. I came out of the Harley shop and some dude was standing by it acting like he was going to piss on it. I walked up and said, "do you really want to disrespect me and my bike?" He looked at me and the people parted like the red sea. Even though I'm a click over sixty, I still stand 6'4" and weight 275, and bench 300lbs plus for reps. I also teach Krav Maga and am a retired cage fighter. On a side note, I used to be the doc for HD racing and have owned a Harley every second of my life since 1966, not one minute or one second without me owning a Harley.

This I'm a biker crap is out of hand. When you get out of your Kia suv at Walmart decked out in your black leather, do rag and patches and pins, theres a problem

And now the new response is, then buy a Victory of Indian. Both have more American parts than Harley. Is it really something to worry about anymore anyway? Who cares what a person rides. We all face the same idiots on cell phones don't we? Or does one brand come with a "force field" or some such device? Nope...then who cares!

Okay ... so when did what you ride determine whether your a biker or not ... you ride a bike ... your a biker ... it's really pretty simple ... if you think my trike isn't a bike ... check out the license my government requires me to have and the designation my insurance company has for my trike.

I don't really care what anyone rides ... heck ... I'm even okay with stallions now (the steering wheel threw me for a while) ... we all get bugs in our teeth ... rain on our heads and wind in our face.

I was in Strugis a couple of years ago. I was in the hotel having breakfast and for talking bikes, of course. The guy I was talking with said he drove his brand because it was made in America, good idea however ( I had a Royal Star Venture at the time) I asked him what kind of car he drove and he said his Japanese brand car and my response was " I might have a Yamaha parked in the parking lot but I have 5 Fords home in the garage so you tell me who is supporting America?" That ended the conversation. I have had similar conversations with "American" motorcycle riders. It seems (put your favorite American brand here) riders prefer foreign cars and trucks. Go figure

I usually don't get any flack or attitude from other bikers because I don't give a flying J about their opinion (and it shows). You could be riding a Rolls Royce trike and somebody, somewhere would have an unkind remark to make about it.

I don't think you can win with narrow minded people as what-ever rubbish that dribbles out of there mouth is all they care about!!..
in the 50 or so years that I've rode-I've rode most everything and I'm just not interested in narrow minded peoples comments so I just smile, wave,,, then walk, ride ,bike ,trike or limp away!!
they are not worth your time....
