Have you tried chest high bars on your trike, and how do they corner?
Lots of bikes cruising highway 12 in Maggie Valley this week, and a number of the 2 wheelers had mid to high bar ape hangers. No big deal, I've seen a bunch of them over the years.
However, talked to a TriGlide owner at a gas station who had bars about shoulder height. Asked how it handled on the mountain roads. Seemed to me the cornering would be harder on the arms and shoulders, especially with the 3.5 deg rake on the Glide. He said it takes some getting used to at first, but he thinks he has less shoulder and upper back stress on long rides, with little impact on cornering ability.
I always thought the ape hangers were just for show, mainly on the choppers. So, have any of you trikers ridden with them or have them on your trikes?
Not in the market for high bars, just curious.

I've seen lots of them on trikes ... got to sit on a few ... their owners told me shoulder height was real good, improved leverage and lessoned fatigue. Higher than the shoulders tended to reverse the benefits.
I went 12" on my 2010 - wished I would have
gone 14" - NO issues and I've had them for several years. L o n g rides are great.
If I could change my bars, for a reasonable price, I would have higher bars on my 06 Wing.
Our wide glide we have em just a shade under my shoulders. They are very comfortable.
I'm thinking of getting taller bars for the flrt. The GW us good for me. Like the extra protection I get.

I ride a 2011 Tri-Glide and felt like I was reaching forward and down. When with 11" baggers bars and the ride was more comfortable. Handling did not feel any different.

Thanks for the feedback. Pretty much confirms what the rider I talked to said about his bar height. (I think he said it was 12")
Guess I need to find a trike with higher bars and go for a ride so I can see for myself.
