    Default Motor Trike rear suspension?.....

Looking around the MT website.....and one of the
things I could NOT find was.....ANY INFORMATION
    ABOUT REAR SUSPENSIONS!....

Not one picture, description, option list...NOTHING!

Anyone know a source for info. and maybe photos
of Motor Trike rear suspension options.

    I was really disappointed.....

Don't know which type of drive line you were looking for, but the IRS for Honda GW is readily available, I would think the straight axle conversions would be, too. I'll have to go look.

    HD Belt IRS

I didn't find a belt drive straight axle brochure.

    Default Rear ends.......

Hey man....thanks! That's what I was looking for.

HOW did you get to that page?!

    Dealer login maybe?

I was hoping to find the straight axle picture just
    like that one.

    Thanks again...

LOL, not a dealer. Just experience from owning a Valkyrie with MT's coupe straight axle conversion for a number of years. I bought it used, & from this place (TT) and a friendly dealer, I finally got pics and maintenance information for these Honda conversions.

BTW, I did look, but there are no pics of a straight axle conversion on MT's site. If you go to MT's list of bikes/conversions, click on a bike, and if there is a schematic of the drive, it will be at the bottom of that page.

Still don't know which bike/conversion you're looking for, but the SA conversion for the Honda's (using a drive shaft) is surprisingly simple, from build wise to maintenance wise. The only parts I've ever needed were brake shoes & a wheel seal. Both items matched up with mid-'90's Mustang parts.

    Bummer....but thanks for the info.

Was wondering how they incorporate air bags with
    shocks on straight axle setup?.....hhhmmmm....

    Ride safe...

Not sure how the suspension setup is on a belt drive, but on the SA Honda the air bag & shock are side x side. Probably similar on the belt drive.

What model kit is this. I have a motor trike kit that was put on my 93 GW in 99 according to the paper work that I got with the trike. The frame work looks the same ,but instead of airbags and coilover shocks mine has a set of progressive air shocks and that seems to be it. Does this sound correct. I tried to attach pictures, we'll see if it works. I am somewhat concerned that if one of the air shocks blows I will have a real problem. Does anyone have experience with this kit ?

The kit above, with the air bags & coil-overs, is from a Valkyrie kit.

It looks almost identical (from the outside) to the Coup model for the GW 1500, minus the trunk of course.

Mine was triked in around 2000, as far as I can determine. It still used the 4-lug wheels. Later models used a 5-lug wheel.

Yep ..... Progressive 416 Series. They have a good coil spring inside as well as the shock and air chamber and are rebuildable. My '97 GL1500 Lehman has them since converted in 1998 ..... never leaked yet. Can tolerate up to 100 psi. I also have a set on my 1200.

Thx for the info ,I had no idea what I had. That gives me some peace of mind. 60 is the highest pressure I've run so far ,it is good to know I can go higher if I need to. How hard are they to rebuild.just in case I ever need to?

Progressive will do it .... or you can do it yourself if ever needed ..... they use Honda seals. I have had them on my '85 GL1200 since 1997 and they've been on the Trike since converted 1998 and I've yet to detect any leakage of air or fluid. I've not rebuilt any but I have seen a few forum threads from those who have .... detailing the steps.

I run 65 psi in rear of '97 GL1500 / Lehman GTL trike with myself and wife on board, I have run as low as 35 or 40 but ride is better at the higher psi.

The coil springs will suffice if you were on the road and lost air .... but you'ld need to slow down. Progressive states in the instructions to set bike on center stand (assuming a bike) and air up to 100 psi, load bike, take off center stand and set on bike, and let only enough air out to drop bike about an inch from topped out for best ride.

Glad I found someone with knowledge of the shocks because I had no clue .

    I appreciate that info .
