    Default Two Wheels to Three

My wife had a customer the other day that took his Harley and had it triked a couple months ago, (she didn't say which unit.)

After she told him I had my Goldwing triked, he went on complaining about how triking takes away all the sportiest and fun from motorcycling etc. etc.

I thought to myself, here's a good example of a seasoned cycle rider that just thought a trike would be for him without actually taking one for a test ride and talking to people that have them...................

Was anyone one here that surprised after your trike investment?

I was very surprised. At how much fun it is to ride.I bought mine so my wife could ride with me again.I still have my 2 wheeler but after getting comfortable the trike is the one I have the most trouble not being fast and aggressive in the corners with.I never rode a trike or a wing before I bought it and bought from pictures.I had a need for it and this one filled that need.Experience running machinery and reading tips here had me prepared for riding the trike and I had no trouble with it ever at no point did I question the decision.
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

2010 first try on trikes. Yes it was a surprise for me, but it wasn't for me anyway. The reason I bought it passed away and I got rid of it.
2014 second try on a touring trike. Loving it. No surprises this time.
At times I do jones for 2 wheeling. Got Dyna bikes for that now.
    Now I'm loving it.

I have both 3 and 2 wheelers and almost have to force myself self to ride the 2wheeler. I just feel more relaxed on the trike.

Know how you feel. My only surprise when I bought the trike was learning that the thing handles like a dang Indy car. Still have two bikes along with the trike but the trike packs all the fun without the worries of a 900 pound bike in traffic.

The Trike was a last ditch effort for me to keep doing what has been my 2nd love in my life, (Family was #1) to keep riding and be involved with Motorcycles. My first month brought a lot of 2nd thoughts as weather I had made a good decision and weather this was for me. After making a few adjustments both to the Trike (Rake kit) and mentality adjusting how a Trike handles, I feel in love with riding the Trike and now look back and wish I had done it years ago. I accept now that a Trike is not a BIKE but is a fun freedom machine with just as much thrill and pleasure as a 2 wheeler.

I have a friend who after a stroke cannot ride his Harley more than a few miles without stopping and his Wife is afraid to ride with him because he barely has the strength to hold the Bike up with just him on it. Yet he refuses to give it up or give a Trike a chance because he doesn't feel it is a Motorcycle and is too proud to go to three. Needless to say his Harley sits in his garage growing cob webs in the exhaust while he rags me about not being a TRUE Motorcyclist. To each his own I say.

I always wondered how I would do riding on two wheels again, probably forgetting to put my feet down when I stopped................

Some say riding a trike is a lot like riding a street legal ATV, do you agree??

I think a Trike is way more stable. May be some similarities in steering but not enough to say they are comparable. JMHO

After riding both for almost a year now I have not forgot to put my feed down on the 2 wheeler as of yet but I do try to put the kick stand down on the trikes at times. My wife just laughs at me.
Sometimes I need a blast of serious power that is where the 2 wheeler come in.
I had planned on hitting the drag strip tonight but the wife took too long at her sisters again.
those 7 second 1/8 mile runs will get the adrenaline pumping.

My wife loves our Trike and won't even get on a 2 wheeler theses day

So my theor is if you get a Trike all women will ride it, lol How is that a bad thing

The surprise for me was that i did not grow to like as everyone said I would. I bought a Gold wing Trike from a friend who got too old to ride. I had some idea what it would be like but no real experience. It wasn't fun,I missed 2 wheels but couldn't go back,I thought if this is triking I may be done riding. I stuck it out for 4 years hoping it would get better. It didn't. I had two friends riding Spyders and I asked them about their experience. They loved them. I rode one in 2011,ir was ok.Finially I rode when again in March 2015.very different experience and I was hooked. Sold the Wing bought a used RT and have never looked back.

I am now surprised at how much fun this is,most fun I've had since I left 2 wheels

Been riding the trike for almost 5 years now and my wife and I really enjoy it together.
Added a HD Road King to the stable this year and enjoy it by myself on short trips, wife won't ride on two any longer.

life is good on two or three!

I have always owned heavy weight touring bikes and vintage Kaw KZs and at least one more modern 2-wheel rider. I just got to the point where the heavy touring bike was getting to be a chore muscling around and both I and the missus feel more secure riding two-up on a trike. Today I ride solo on a 77 KZ1000A or my 2013 CB1100A. I still have no problems with the weight and size/power of a standard bike. I didn't have much problem with a GL1800 two-wheeler, just enjoy the security of 3 wheels now more.

I find it kind of ironic that a Harley rider was complaining a trike wasn't sporty as I am not sure how sporty any of the Harley models are. Guess he must have meant leaning into curves and scraping floorboards and such as my old 77 KZ1000 is likely sportier and faster than any of the Harley models although I haven't sampled all the current offerings. I recently owned an FLHTCUI and while it was OK as far as comfort and style it wasn't exactly sporty and was a bit on the top heavy side.

I would be a zillionaire today if I didn't have bike buying/selling compulsion.

Was a bit suprised at how easy it was to forget I was on three wheels, but being in Texas, where you have to go many miles to look for a curve, probably had to do with the forgetting about three wheels. But, happy I am, and won't go back.
