For those of you riding Harleys wanting a fork brace your not alone. I looked at many and tried a few, nothing fit, or fit my fender choice, which was a fatbob fender on a wide glide front.

Soooo i came up with a brilliant and reasonable priced fork brace for a hawg. Its a lower tree from a wide glide or a dyna, with the stem cut off, I figured what the hell ? saw it off or leave it on and install a headlight in the hole, so i cut it off, i have other lower trees, they be reasonable at swap meets compared to after market fork braces.

They be 41mm i do believe, if you have a later model with 49mm find a bottom tree of 49mm and use it, my front end is 10inches over and requires a brace after visually checking it out on the table.

Chop saw did not make short work of it, that lower tree is tuff stuff, but it did get the job done just don't be in a hurry, and properly brace it with a wood block to hold it level and steady it.

Haven't decided on folding the chrome cover over on the backside down to a degreed angle to cover the cut yet or not, opinions on that ? thanks

Hope this helps someone in need.

Nice! Can you notice a difference with it installed?

Brand new starter Bendix took a dive, and i haven't got it off the table yet, but hey, it looks good ! haha, and it will work, have had braces on other trikes, this one the light bulb went off and i saved money

after chasing after market and Harley that wouldn't fit the top of the lower leg, then fit with the fat-boy fender so this is my answer to personal problem.

Hope it helps others its a cheap fix, and if you have a yammer hammer, you can do the same, find the lower tree, chop it or jus install it to get what ya need, with 10 overs this is required, for me anyway.

thanks for the reply

I installed one of those Rivera $500 dolla clutches, if you had a shovel clutch you would know why. Seems the drum with starter ring gear sets out about an inch further away from the Bendix.

Took awhile to finger it out, but that happened, and viola one new shaft later fixed. $29 eBay fix, ya gotta look around the shafts were from my $29 to $129, same same, and i bought the last one this seller had.

New tranny to me still don't want to shift right, Big Sigh, thats why i replace the 4spd with the 5spd sputhe, seemed OK, ? rode it a bit and it shifted better, but not to my liking yet.

Thinking i may have to pull the plates and oil them down, instead of a dry clutch in a sealed primary.

Brought the rake in about a inch or so (adjustable trees from pat Kennedy) and now i got head shake, 41lbs front tire, never had that before with Harley raked trees, mmm, back to the drawing board.

Suggestions welcomed, raining like a cow whizzing on a flat rock at 1am. We need it.
Best to the board.
