How to Tell if Raked or not

I bought a Trike couple of months ago and I was told it was raked but honestly I have no clue, How can I tell, even tell how much if it is

**For GEN I (2001-2010)**
Measure the distance from the leading point of the lower timing cover cowl to the rear-most surface of the front FENDER.
The distance on a stock OE 2001-2010 GL1800 will be right at 1.5 inches.
A Steering Angle/Trail modified (Triple-Tree changed) GL1800 will have an approx. 3-3.25 inch (depending on whether 4.5* or 6*) distance at that same point.
**For GEN II (2012 & Up)**
Measure from leading point of the lower timing cover cowl to the rear-most surface of the front TIRE.
The distance on a stock OE 2012 & Up GL1800 will be right at 1.375 inches.
Safe to assume that a Steering Angle/Trail modified (Triple-Tree changed) GEN II will add about 1.5-1.75 inches to make a the modified measurement approx. 3 inches as well.

You can always just call Champion and give them the 2006 Sticker Number and they can tell you what you have based on what was shipped to the installer.

If you happen to have a magnetic protractor (under $10 in most stores - Lowes, Sears, etc.) in your toolbox the test is simple. Stick the protractor on the forward plane of the frame neck and read the degrees. Then stick the protractor on either of the fork tubes (with forks facing straight forward) and take a reading. If the two readings are the same, then your triple trees are not raked. If the readings are different the number of degrees of difference is the design of the raked trees (i.e., a difference of 4 degrees indicates 4 degree raked trees).

To know the true rake of the two components, just level the long straight stretch of the bottom frame tube before taking the readings described above.

Look at your upper or lower triple tree (what holds the forks on)....if they are black, they are stock (not raked). If they are silver, they are raked trees.

That would be the smartest idea, so i did it and here was the reply

Champion kit was shipped to dealer in sept 06 gl-1500 solid axle kit with champion ez-steer 5 degrees

So I now know, lol
