    Default Can No Longer Start In Gear...

    I just had my Freewheelers 5k service done at the dealer last week. Earlier today, I stalled the bike at a stop sign and went to start it in gear like I've done before, (Yes, I know the brake has to be applied) and I got nothing! Would not start until I put it back in neutral. Did the dealer possibly update my ECM with new software that disallows starting in gear anymore? Anybody else run into this?

    2015 H-D Freewheeler - Superior Blue
    2014 Honda CB1100 - Candy Glory Red

    Sometimes mine is a tad hard to start in gear. The break switch is a pressure switch, sometimes you need to push it HARD.

    My 07 street-glide wont start in gear, period. Neutral or nothing.

    Yeah Steve, I've done it in the past with no problems. The other day I tried both foot and hand brakes, still no go.

    It's the, what we call the "Jackrabbit" switch. under the clutch lever. To test it wrap some tape around the clutch lever where it contacts the micro-switch thus pushing it in further. You'll see that the bike will start indicating you need to adjust the lever controls.

    Call it a Jackrabbit switch because on older bikes you could start 'em with out engaging the clutch thus rabbit hopping out into traffic..

    Default Switch pack is bad

    Mine has the same issue came and went now here to stay HD had a lot of bad switch packs in the left control that were bad. They were on back order. I hope to take mine in tomorrow to get it shaped out. It was in stock.

    I took mine in and was told it's hard on the trike to start it in gear so HD doesn't want me doing it.

    I explained that I would only do it if I stalled out, not every time I ride.

    Then they told me that it could and would be fixed so it was.
