My first Honor Flight escort

Done several runs & Vet events with Warrior's Watch Riders (Veteran myself), but this was the first Honor Flight Escort I've been on, and it was incredible...Philly PD held traffic at the on-ramps of I95 from the De state line to Bensalem, shit-ton of bikes from other groups came along, Philly, Bensalem, and Lower Makefield Motor Units led the line as Air Tac 1 (Philly's chopper) flew (LOW) overhead for the last 3/4's of the ride back, and almost every bridge had Fire trucks with flags hanging, and a HUGE crowd at Casino (in Bensalem) waving flags & applauding

Feels damn good to see so many people showing their old serviceman they are still very much appreciated. Looking forward to next one!

Does the old heart good to know at least some of the country is thankful for what the vets do/did.

Just this morning on the shuttle from the dodge dealer, the driver wouldn't leave until he shook my hand and thanked me for my service ... I couldn't figure out how he knew I was a vet, so I asked him .. he said, "Your truck has honorably discharged plates." ... pretty kewl that he noticed and took the time to thank me.

I'm same way...if I'm out shopping or at work (doorman at club on weekends...my post-LEO job) and I see license plate, hat, or ID showing they're active or veteran, I make it a point to thank them & shake their hand. I got out in 97, shortly before my unit got activated...probably sounds odd, but I've always had guilt for not re-upping and being there for & with my brothers, so I always try to be there for any service member now.

A good buddy's wife found this on his truck (he had Disabled Vet tags). I have a flag that I replaced, I'm thinking of doing this as well before I bring the rest of it to the Legion for disposal.....just have to bring myself to cutting the stars out (seems simple enough, but feels wrong cutting her). Buddy was touched (he carries in his wallet), his wife was in tears. I think it's a great way to let them know they are not forgotten
