Thank you For pointing out that difference. The laws here are written to allow for micro cars. Which are just like trikes. They consider the ones with two steering wheels and one drive wheel ( total 3 ) motorcycles. The ones with two drive wheels and one steering wheel Trimobiles, ( micro cars ).

Yes both are under motorcycles, if you read the laws they exclude trimobiles with an enclosure, or a windscreen from the motorcycle regs. and some car regs. to allow for micro cars, and trikes. Fortunately most trikes fit this description. So no endorsement, no helmet, no special test, no seat belts, no special cage. But still a motorcycle so still part of the clubs. If it drives like a car why should you have to take a special test. Fortunetly most front steer trike out now with a partial enclosure have belts anyway like a micro car. All still cycles.

We also have a state run safety course just for trikes in reno. But it is not required. Most trikers here take it because it reduces you insurance and will get you that unnecessary MC endorsement.

I believe these laws should be everywhere. I hate to say this about any law but these make sense. You just have to read them all carefully.

Trikes are safer and most are micro cars, or built from cars. They should not be held to motorcycle regs and endorsements. However, most are complete open cockpit, or built from a cycle. So still a cycle sort of. Because of this and tipping we all ride different than cycles, a little more relaxed. But still faster than a cycle. :yay:
