Howdy!

My wife and I have been riding a 2009 Kawasaki Voyager since we bought it new and really like the bike, but I have a bad ankle from a 2006 MC wreck and a torn rotator cuff. The bike can be a little intimidating in slow speeds and parking lots.

We're really leaning towards 3 wheels. We've ruled out side cars, so now it's trikes we're looking at. Converting the Voyager, would be great. Just don't know where to start.

IRS vs solid axle? Thoughts? Vendors? Install myself?

Sure appreciate any info.

welcome aboard Keith. There has been many postings on this subject. Really to big a subject to give one response to. You need to see what you budget is like. How mechanically inclined are you. Is there installers near you. What do you like and don't like. Who makes a kit for your donor bike. I would suggest that you search the forums here using key words to questions you have. Look for dealers so you can go look at their products. Rent a Harley TRI-Glide to see what you think of that. Stop and talk to trike owners you come across. Most of us love to talk about our trikes. Then come and ask more specific questions here. Also go to the conversion companies web sites and read. Good Luck

Welcome to Trike Talk! You will find a lot of answers here. Each of us has their own preference and you will have to make the final decision. I prefer the independent suspension and I really like my CSC conversion. I think that the MotorTrike unit is a nice option also and they are close to you. Talk to Randy (he is Bazooka, the leader of this wonderful forum) as he lives in the Houston area, is a trike dealer/converter and can give some great advise AND some good pricing! Ride safe!

Howdy back at you Shin. I live in NE Medina Co. up on the other side of San Antonio from you. We have a Champion GL1800 conversion and I know Champion makes a conversion for your Kaw.

Check out the championsidecars.com webpage and look at some examples and discussion down in the Suzuki-Kawasaki forum... lots of pics. Our site owner is a Champion dealer... PM Bazooka (aka Randy). He is up in the Houston area and would be a good choice as an installer. I recommend you chat with him regarding options and such as he knows what there is to know about trikes. He also sells his own brand of rake kits and they sell for a bit less than the Champion rake kit if you go that way.

If you get up in my area, you are welcome to try my Goldwing conversion to get a sense of how a Champion conversion rides but I am not sure how much that would translate to a Voyager. CHeers! wg
