Going TOPLESS

I have wanted to do this since the day I bought my '13 TG.... Have owned 4 Ultras and the first think I did was make the tour-pak detachable. As so many have indicated, found out real early that the parts for the flxxx have been discontinued.

BUT this might go the way of the StreetGlide. Harley saw that all of us were pulling out Ultra tour-paks off so they brought out the StreetGlide and started selling the tour-pak separately for more $$$$$$.. than if you'd bought an Ultra.

Now the hunt begins AGAIN.....!!!!! Does anybody have the HD part numbers for the rack and back rest ???

Awesome look and job. Makes the Tri look really sporty. Since most of my riding is 2 up, I doubt the Bob would go for no tourpack for her stuff or no rack. I do like the look of it though and as Fuzzy said, it shoud change the handling because of a lowered center of gravity.

I saw an old post of going topless on the trike. I have a 2010 Ultra Tri Glide and want to remove to the tour pack, what is the part number of the luggage rack with the back rest? Hopefully I'll get lucky and find one.

I put the Kuryakyn adjustable tour pak mount on my tri. I wanted to make more room for the pet palace.

If you remove one screw that is there solely to prevent the tour pak from sliding off while adjusting, it will slide off.



It's kind of like a drawer slider, on steroids. LOL. Kuryakyn says it won't fit on a Tri Glide, but, it will. The only reason they say it won't fit is because you can't get to the aforementioned screw on once it's installed on the tri. I just noticed the area and voila, fits fine.



I've also thought about buying another one and using just the top part to mount the pet palace on ... LOL, but, at $350 for the kit, maybe not. I wonder if they would sell me just the top part of the slider .. hmmmm.

I have never pulled the tour pak with the adjuster in place, but, I've given it lots of thought. And the questions that keep coming to mind are:

1) Do you use a faring mounted antenna since you loose the antennas with the tour pak off?

2) How do you hide the wires without the filler pad?

3) Is the Tri more nimble or ride better or better gas milage without the weight and wind resistance?

4) Do you think just the two tail lights are enough to keep idiots from running up your b$tt?

I like the look but sure would miss the storage even around town. I am not to sure about lifting the tour pak by the rack. Looks like that would put a lot of strain on the lid.
