Scratch on fender of rear back tire.

Need some help. Just got back from a ride, and I was going over the trike I noticed a 2" scratch on the right rear fender of rear tire. I don't know how I got it, but it's there. Might have been the wife ( she feels real bad) so I need to know what are my options?

Can I buff it? or do I need to use cover up paint?

also, so it's doesn't happen again, what type of film would you use on your trike. HD? etc...

That looks like it will need prep and paint. After that, I'd do a 3m film ... I had the fat bottom girl done two days after I got her ... cleans up real nice and very hard to see.

It looks like it will need paint in the pic.....but if it's on the top of the fender and you think she's hit it with her boot, I've never seen a boot scuff that ya couldn't buff out.

As far as film....a newer product out there called Sun Tech. Slightly thicker and comes with a better warranty. And it's very cool that if it gets a stone hit....leave it out in the sun and it self heals! And it's real clear.

Yes that is a typical location for scratches and rock chips. It is very easy for the passenger to drag a heel getting on or off.
My suggestion, for what it's worth, is look at a set of fender bras. Not only will they cover up the existing Booboo, but will protect against more scratches and nicks down the road. I can say mine have really helped in both areas.

Looks more like metal-to-metal (someone keyed) to me! Get the fender bras....don't mess with that clear crap..won't cover the scratch!

Looks like boot drag, I sometimes get lazy and don't lift my leg enough dismounting and my heal will leave the same marks. Sometimes the'll buff out but not all the way.. I consider it battle scars and live with them. If i ever sell my trike i'll let the next owner have all the fun bringing the Trike back to pristine condition...

The wife had all kinds of buckles,and metal things on her boots and put a scratch on mine too..Touch up paint and buffing worked.
Depending how bad that scratch is it maybe able to buff out with Maguires compound. Or touch up paint 2- 3k grid sandpaper and then buff with compound. Then I would use 3M paint protection..Works well..
3M paint protection will help rock chips too..

Looks like a paint touch up job to me. Don't think buffing is going to do it.
