Default Ok, I miss my fairing. Anyone put one on a Freewheeler?

I enjoy riding the Freewheeler but I really miss having a fairing. I traded in a 14 Streetglide that was probably the best riding bike I ever owned, and I believe the fairing contributed greatly to the comfort. Any of you folks put one on your Freewheeler? Thanks for your advice and recommendations.

Dragonfly, wide open, Memphis shades or any fairing, quick detach that will fit a road king should work.

8,000 miles so far. Have yet to wish I had the batwing in front of me. I'm enjoying the basic bike idea again.

I installed a Reckless fairing but didn't care for it, seemed like I got a better ride with just the windshield. Going to play around with fairing lowers this winter to see if it makes any difference.

    Default fairing

Put a Memphis shades batwing for a road king on my freewheeler. fits perfect. have a 9 inch windshield, no buffeting no updraft best fairing ever and you can also get an adapter for a radio

    Here ya go!

Kidding...that's a TG with the TP removed.

I would look at a Memphis Shades or a Dragonfly.

But before any of that...I would look at what would be involved in getting a Road Glide/Sharknose type fairing. That would do what you're looking for, keep the light front end feeling of the Freewheeler, plus be completely different.

Google road glide fairing conversion. There is a two part PDF you can download. It's not as simple though as just dropping it on. There is an interconnect harness and everything is completely different than a free wheeler/road King front end. Not to mention the gas tank. That being said lots of guys have done it.

Funny, I traded my '03 Dyna for an '08 Ultra. Then traded it for a '11 Tri-glide that went away for a '15 Freewheeler. Never happier than leaving all that 'luggage at the dealer and returning back to basics. Made a little dash to hold a 5" GPS and an iPod nano. Both bluetooth to my Sena headset. Of all the bikes I've owned, that Dyna was the most fun. The freewheeler is just like that Dyna, with another wheel.

    Good Luck!

    Why 3 wheels?

This looks like a pretty cool setup . it is very expensive as far as I'm concerned but it looks to be set up well.

There are some pics of a free with a fairing on the Facebook Freewheeler group. I am looking for something (like most of us) to kill some of the updraft. I really do not want a fairing but if it is the only option.....

I'm a cheapskate. When I did mine on my road King I bought one of ebay for 350 had it pointed for 200 dropped in a radio and speakers. I was all in at about 800 with a cheap radio n speakers. In the long run I was unhappy with the sound quality I upgraded to a Sony head unit 175, Polk audio speakers 150 and a Picassa amp for 200. So I would have saved headaches and about 250 if I skipped the cheap audio mistake.

A Tank Lift will help with some (not all) of the updraft. It pushes air that would have gone over the front of the tank, and hit the rider in the chest, to under the tank and across the engine, keeping it cooler.

It depends, person to person, (height, sitting position, etc.) but many folks get less buffeting when using a Tank Lift.

There are also fork wind deflectors you can use that will reduce the wind...but do not use them during weather warmer than 70*, they will cause your engine to run hotter.

They look good too...exposes more of the chrome.

James,I saw that FW with the batwing fairing. Only speaking for myself but if I owned a FW,one of the first mods would be a Memphis Shade batwing. With one of those and a pair of JES fork fangs, wind protection would be pretty nice.

I have looked at your tank lifts and they are on the possible list of things to do, I will be snagging a set of your floorboard extenders in the near future... I saw them and really paid attention the last run I made and how my feet were always about half off the floorboards out to the sides. So it makes since to move them out a bit. Also looking at your heal rests... the list goes on.

For those wanting to eliminate the buffeting maybe try a set of Kuryakyns fork mounted wind deflectors they are way longer and more functional than hd/s in my opinion.

Do you have those mounted on your Freewheeler?

I don't see how they would fit with turn signals.
