    Default Shocks and Lift Kit

    OK gang - Winter project....I've ordered the Progressive 444-4073B Shocks for the TriGlide. Now thinking while I have it torn down might as well do the DK Lift kit too. They don't suggest the comfort kit for heavy load usage, but wondering as I am putting in the heavy duty shocks that the comfort lift might work and get the added benefit. The new shocks are only a 1/2" longer. Thoughts?

    You can't run those shocks with a lift kit, they are a half inch longer to give you the lift without the lift kit. Those shocks with a lift kit would lift your back end an inch, way too much IMO. So if you have the shocks you don't need the lift kit, Progressive took care of that for you.

    As I have the lift kit and the original 12" 444's and if I would have waited, I would not have purchased the lift kit with the new 444's!!

    Thanks for the input - I was thinking as the originals are 13" that the extra 1/2" would not be an issue. So much for that idea! LOL

    I think this is going to be a personal preference thing. I like Roger have the lift kit and the 444 shocks. But I like my setup. I do not think it lifts it to much. Lots of miles on this setup and no complaints.

    Do you have the 13.5" Shocks? And which lift kit do you have? Thanks

    no I used the 444-4020B this was back it 2014 before they made one for the TRI. They are stock touring height, I believe 12". I have DK standard lift.

    I have no personal experience with using either of our lift kits with the 444's.

    However, if there is not at least an inch of sag in them, I would agree with msocko3, a lift kit would not be a good idea...it would put the rear up too high.

    If they are 1/2" taller than stock, and they sag 1" or more with the TG unloaded, then I believe you would benefit from the Comfort Lift (as long as you don't have a combined rider/passenger/luggage load in excess of 540 lbs. If it is, then a Standard Lift Kit would be in order).
