We've had 72 -75 the past two days in the hill country and got to do some serious riding. Hope you had a great time while there. We only have 6 more days and we have to begin our trek north again too.
It was 75ish two days ago in McAllen
It was 55ish this morning in Waco.
Its below freezing and the wind is blowin from the north
in God's country
I wanna go back
The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

yes the rio grand valley will spoil you in the winter time. I lived in south texas for a while. it does get hot in the summer. I was there for 2 winter and the lowest I saw was upper 40 s and that did not stay long. I live in east Texas not wish I could winter in the valley and summer here.
Right now the temp is -3 with the "feels like" at -18. This is actually the high for today. Got down to around -10 this morning but I see some places in ND got down to -24 actual this morning and they weren't near the Canadian border but rather down in the southeastern part of the state. It will be probably at least 3 months before we can even think about getting the trike out and more than likely closer to 4 months.

I have a dumb question, where in Texas is the Hill Country you folks are talking about and say is nice area to ride in?
It's currently 5*, wind chill -4* however up to this point we haven't had it bad but it finely turned winter. Ugh
Thanks DJ

One article I ran across rated it one of the best 5 bike rides in the USA

That is a super riding area. The weather has taken a turn and it is a little cooler. Jim
We were in the Texas Hill country last winter for a week, and loved the area. It was our first trip, and we intend to go back, soon. If the weather were a little warmer, we would be back again this year...my DW needs temps above 75 degrees to thaw out...

I want to thank everyone for their input on the Texas Hill country information. This looks like a fun place to ride (for sure) and something to put on my future schedule this year. Thanks DJ
Darn. I had to ride over to Temple this morning to visit friends in the hospital. Started out at 40*. And now at mid afternoon it is only 65*. Gotta love central Texas.
As far as the Hill Country is concerned, every year for the last 10, we have gone down to Kerrville or Fredricksburg as a home-base for 3 or 4 days to tour the hill country. We usually try to stay between Utopia, Bourne, and Llano for our rides. Sometimes we take the Road King and sometimes the Trike. Either way it's a fun ride, one of the best in Texas. But I must say, it can't hold a candle to western North Carolina or eastern Tennessee.
But that's just the opinion of this life-long Texan.
