Motor trike wheels

I have 93 GW with what I think is a 99 MT kit ,according to the paper work I got with the trike it was installed in 99. What I'm wondering about are wheel options. I have the 4 lug wheels that came with the kit and I would like to update to a different wheel. I have found a few 4 lug wheels that are the right bolt pattern but the back spacing is wrong,plus I didn't really like the looks. I was wondering if anyone has ever used the 4 to 5 lug adapters and how well they worked or if anyone knows of 4 lug wheels that will work? Thx in advance!

I have a 2002 Gold Wing with the 4 lug wheels also. I bought my wheels from Discount Tires, they are Billit Specialities. I measured the backspacing on Motor Trike wheels and then ordered the wheels. Make sure you have the correct bolt pattern, the 4 lug Motor Trike wheels are 4 on 4 1/4 not 4 on 4 1/2 pattern it came on early Dodge Darts and Plymouth Valiants. I don't suggest spacers it might put your tire into the fender.

I have a Lehman which uses the 4 on 4-1/4 circle as used on 74-93 Mustang, 81-88 Thunderbird, Pintos, Bobcats, Fairmonts, little LTDIIs, etc .... and I have a spare set of them and two buddies with late '90s Motor Trikes ..... one of whom wanted the spares ..... but their MTs have the older Ford 4 on 4-1/2 pattern as used on some early 6cyl Mustangs, Falcons & Comets from the '60s. He even paid me and mounted two tires and was installing them when he found the mismatch. I know my Lehman and those ASA 5 spoke wheels are 4 on 4-1/4 as I had a '85 T-bird and those 15x7s also fit the Lehman's axles.

Anyway ..... very easy to measure center to center two opposite studs if any doubt.

I bought the wheels back too.

I do think that this forum is a great place for information but I also think that a good aftermarket wheel shop should be able to answer any questions, order the wheels for you and if they don't fit, its their issue and not yours.

I'm sure I'm WAY too late on this, but what about pulling the axles out & having a machine shop convert them to 5 lug?

You can still get 4 lug wheels made, but good lord it ain't cheap! I'll bet a halfway decent machine shop could pull your wheel studs outta the axle, spec it out, & turn them into a 5 lug flange without too much cost.

Sure would open up the wheel options for you!
