Default Just Changed Air Filter on 2014 Goldwing Trike

Lord my back is killing me. I thought I would try this myself. Man is it a job. There is definitely a sequence of taking things off. I learned by trial and error. I am almost done, just have to put the dash and seat back on. I though about doing a video, but too long and took me 5 hours. Hope it runs..

I think if I do it again, it will be a bit easier now that I have done it once. I changed at 26,500 miles and it was not that dirty. I guess I don't ride on dirty roads.

If your going to do your own maintenance on your Wing, you might want to look into buying a set of Fred Harmon's DVD's (google "AngelRideVideos" ).
His videos will give you the confidence to do all the Maintenance required on the Wing including Valve Clearance Checks, Fork Maintenance, Brake Work and much more.
If your not aware of him, he is one of the most respected GL1800 authorities on the GL1800Riders forum.

I have gotten to the point that I watch videos before I do anything on my GL. There is so much to them and nothing is easy. I have a set I purchased and if I can't find something there I go to You Tube.

Fred says his videos are for entertainment. I have to admit the first time I saw him holding a wrench with his toes it was quite comical!

Really, most of Fred's tricks are indeed useful. I'd still have a service manual handy.

I would think the disclaimer contained in the material is a hedge against lawsuits.

I believe this the reason we have Honda service centers.

Many of which have "techs" that know less than you do about your bike or they are rushed to get done in the time allotted and make mistakes/overlook/damage things.
    I'm remembering an excellent example:
Called 4 closest dealers to me when my comfort system failed. 3 were truthful and admitted they had no one capable of tackling this problem.
4th one said they'd be happy to fix it. But when I told the service manager there was also no heat in the passenger back rest, he told me "that's because there's no heat in the passenger back rest."
    Really
Got out my service manual and found the problem myself.

Please enlighten me. I do not work on my own bike, but why would the dash need to come off to replace/check the air filter?

There are screws and other parts under that need to taken off as well. So many parts that have to come of in a certain sequence. And while it was off I wanted to get the bugs out of the speaker grills.

Because it's "buried" under all that "stuff" that's in front of you(as you sit on the bike)!
PITA to do and very labor intense.
Dealer's love to stick you with mucho labor cost to change the air filter.

That is what my little bride & I earned in raising that fine young gentleman, O, baby boy is 52 years old & he and his little bride ride with us quite often. Blessed beyond believe. (Not a brag, just fact.)

Totally agree, that is why I tackled it myself. I figured I save several hundred if not a thousand dollars.

As suggested, Fred's video's are worth 10 times what the present cost is!!!!!!
