    Default Another question this time about distributors.

    You may well have read my posts on the carb adjustments and the like. Now i have it all up and running i have notice a slight hesitation at initial pick up on the throttle. I have read post about dizzys and different types and have not found an answer yet.

    My dizzy has just just the auto advance bob weight no vacuum advance. I know there are single and double vacuums but dont know which will stop the hesitation at pick up.

    Oyveigh!
    With the timing gun on the marks, raise the throttle both fast and slow. See if it advances smoothly , if so, ditributor weights are moving , any jumping of the light, then ck for sticky weight movement. If it's smooth, then continue wth the carb dead spot. If it does not back fire, it's not ignition. Try that!

    I found this a number of years back and it helped me with my timing. (cant seem to attach the pick so here is a link)

    It helped but did not completely solve my hesitation though

    I had a mechanical advance 009 at first I switched to a SVDA (single vacuum dual advance) This has both a mechanical advanced and a vacuum advanced
    This has helped even more. I got mine form aircooled.net

    Then changing the jets in my carb seem to help some more. http://www.3fowlers.com/carb.html

    Another thing to consider is your areas elevation. If you are up close to a KM high then add about 6 degrees to your timing.

    Thanks for the replies.....................I forgot to mention electronic ignition is already (alst year) that cleaned up the running no end. I have had the weights out and cleaned and oiled them at the same time and they are nice n smooth.

    Elevation where i am is not a problem at about 200ft above sea level

    Their solex carb instructions are spot on. I have a genuine VW workshop manual and it is nowhere near as comprehensive as the website.

    What i was looking for and got was your personal experiances, As you say the SVDA dizzy seems to be the way to go. Best of both worlds
