Jims force flow fan

Has anybody installed one of these fans? I like the way they look versus any other fan.Since it is only 1 fan does it cool as efficient as the 2 fan system and it looks like it mounts lower on the heads and might miss the hotter spots on the engine.thanks in advance

I can't help you with the fan. No experience with them.

We looked into those awhile back.

The Jims Fan is more like a parade fan. It is certainly better than no fan, but it does not push air thru the two heads like the dual fan systems, and the result is that it does not come close to cooling down the engine temps as much as the dual fan systems.

Paul welcome aboard. Kevin hit the issue right on the head. The dual fans are not as pretty but are much more functional.

I have Wards Parts Werks Fans. I was in Nevada last summer and they did help. The rear cylinder did not deactivate. I did get pinging from some of the gas out there.

Thanks everybody I'm leaning more toward the wards fan they are supposed to be available in March . Did any of you use the thermostat he supplies with it and how long is the cool down period once the engine is shut off on a hot summer day?

I have the Wards on mine with the thermometer. I think it triggers on at 220*, and kind of depends on how hot when you shut off. Usually not more than 3 minutes or so. Lots of people ask me what "that noise" is when engine is off.
They do work well, even the HD guy working on mine said something positive about them.

I didn't. I figured if in traffic I pretty much know it's getting hot and after shutting down it's off and no worse than before with normal cool down.

Hogcowboy according to Jason if the fans are not on when the engine is cut off heat generated by the hot engine can damage the fans . He says to use the thermostat he supplied with it, have you encountered any damage to your fans or do you turn it on manually

Ive got a Harley parade fan on mine, jus bought the chrome version for $30 bucks chrome cover an fan at a swap meet.

Ive often considered, putting a extra jap battery of some description in my saddle bag with the quick disconnect wiring and a cut off switch, to have a 2 battery bike, if i was to run the wards fans, then they run to cool down after a shut off, i will have a back up to my battery pack jump start kit.

Since i don't have a kick start anymore, i was jus thinking maybe a little more lectricty, just in case ya know.

I may go the wards fan after march (replace the parade fan) and maybe add an extra oil cooler with fan off the rear crash bar on the left side.

After all this is Texas an it gets hot. I see no downside, am i missing sumpn, battery in saddle bag will be covered up to avoid the usual issues.

I hear what he says but to me if I've gone down the road to the point I've turned it of anyway then there shouldn't be a problem. IF THERE IS THEN IT'S A POOR DESIGN. And I've not had a problem. And I'll never know now since I traded bikes and I couldn't move it to the new one. Indian instead of Harley. The Indian doesn't appear to even need it anyway.
