"Humpback Bridge", old Rt 60 west of Covington, Va.
Built in 1835 of hand hewn oak using locust trunnels, it was in use up into 1929.
For near 100 years any traffic traveling to / from points west of Covington, Va. crossing Dunlap Creek on the "Midland Trail" (numbered U S Rt 60 in the mid 1920s) crossed using this bridge .... ie: trucks, cars, horses, wagons, people, etc .... and early MCs. It is the oldest covered bridge in Virginia.
