Hey there,
just a few questions that I probably shhould have figured out by now but still pondering.
I am looking to convert my vtx 1300c into a trike and have pretty much decided that it will be th champion unit.
Now as for my questions.
1 do the stock shocks act as they always have on the bike by supplying the ride comfort and the second set of progressives act as the pivot for the differential. if so how?
2 are the stock shocks utilized as well if i go with the independant rear end. do they also acct in the same manner as i am thinkng with the diff rear end.
3 is the adjustable sway bar set up manual or electrical/ air for adjustment on the fly.
4 will i be able to utilize my existing luggage rack to support my top case or would I need to get the one for the trike and modify it to fit the top case.. top case is a cheapo unit but seems to be pretty sturdy for a 50 buck unit. it does have a lower metal grid frame that i use to mount it to my current luggage rack.
5 does the ez steer set up come with the fork extentions to keep the ground clearance / ride hieght the same as stock or a bit higher?
would I need to go with a higher rate fork spring to compensate for the higher overall weight of the bike and the heavier loading of the front end.
6 will I still be able to use my handlebar pull back mounts that move the bar mounts back 2 inches and up 1 inch without having to extend the cables and wires. it is kind of a tight fit now.
7 is their a practical way to add an aux tank to the unit? as the bike in stock trim gets terrible milage numbers. ie 34 -38 range two up with my wife and I as well as saddlebags top case and batwing style fairing with stereo.
or is my jetting that far south of where it should be.

also it has a small tank at only 4 gal 4.5 with reserve.

I get about 100 - 115 mile before reserve. not used to that.
I know you guys have probably heard all of these questions at one point or another. did a search but did not find what i was looking for.
8 can the unit be ordered pre wired for the krakyin (sp) trailer hitch plug, so it oculd be plug n play for my leesurlite trailer wich is already wired for that plug. 5 wire setup.
9 and hopefully last question for a while.
I live in the southern middle of virginia ( 6 miles from NC) and am still looking for a dealer/ service center that could do the install as well as be able to service without having to travel all the way acrross the state of Va or NC to get servises done when needed. and last thing on the list is what is the typical turn round time for install/setup as I do not have a shelter for my bikes and the live under covers or get wet. I know that stinks to high heaven but nothing I can do about that for a while.
and as allways. thank you for the time you have spent reading my probably oft answered questions and thank you in advancee for whatever answers I recieve.
and excuse my spelling and all that i truly stink in the grammar department.
ride safe and rubber side down.

THANK YOU FOR THE INTEREST AND QUESTIONS.

1. Do the stock shocks act as they always have on the bike by supplying the ride comfort and the second set of progressives act as the pivot for the differential. if so how?
A. THE STRAIGHT AXLE VERSION REPLACES THE STOCK SHOCKS WITH UPGRADED PROGRESSIVE SHOCKS TO HANDLE THE ADDITIONAL WEIGHT.
2. Are the stock shocks utilized as well if I go with the independent rear end, do they also act in the same manner as I am thinking with the diff rear end?
A. THE STOCK SHOCKS ARE REPLACED WITH THE INBOARD COIL-OVER UNITS MOUNTED FROM THE LOWER AND UPPER A-ARMS.
3. Is the adjustable sway bar set up manual or electrical/ air for adjustment on the fly.
A. ELECTRICAL ON THE FLY.
4. Will I be able to utilize my existing luggage rack to support my top case or would I need to get the one for the trike and modify it to fit the top case. Top case is a cheapo unit but seems to be pretty sturdy for a 50 buck unit.

It does have a lower metal grid frame that I use to mount it to my current luggage rack.
A.

THE LUGGAGE RACK BRACKET IS DESIGNED FOR THE HONDA OEM ACCESSORY BACKREST. YOURS MAY BE MODIFIED TO WORK.
5. Does the e-z steer set up come with the fork extensions to keep the ground clearance / ride height the same as stock or a bit higher?
Would I need to go with a higher rate fork spring to compensate for the higher overall weight of the bike and the heavier loading of the front end?
A. FORK EXTENSIONS CAN BE ORDERED AND WILL MAKE UP FOR LOST FRAME HEIGHT DUE TO E-Z STEER. THE STANDARD SPRINGS WORK FINE IN MOST APPLICATIONS SINCE LENGTH IS ALSO ADDED TO THE REAR WHEN CONVERTED.
6. Will I still be able to use my handlebar pull back mounts that move the bar mounts back 2 inches and up 1 inch without having to extend the cables and wires. It is kind of a tight fit now.
A. THE UPPER TREE CLAMP IS LOCATED IN JUST ABOUT THE SAME LOCATION SO IT SHOULD NOT AFFECT THE CABLES, BRAKE LINE OR WIRING TO SWITCHES.
7. Is their a practical way to add an aux tank to the unit? As the bike in stock trim gets terrible mileage numbers.

ie 34 -38 range two up with my wife and I as well as saddlebags top case and batwing style fairing with stereo.
Or is my jetting that far south of where it should be. Also it has a small tank at only 4 gal 4.5 with reserve.

I get about 100 - 115 mile before reserve. Not used to that.
A. WE DO NOT HAVE AN AUX. GAS TANK ACCESSORY SINCE THEY CANNOT BE INSURED ARE NOT DOT APPROVED. THE BATWING FAIRING IS PROBABLY THE GAS MILEAGE KILLER.
8. Can the unit be ordered pre-wired for the KURYAKYN (sp) trailer hitch plug, so it could be plug n play for my Lees-ure Lite trailer which is already wired for that plug. 5 wire setup.
A. ON ORDER, YOUR KIT CAN BE WIRED TO A 5 PIN CONNECTOR.
9.

And hopefully last question for a while.
I live in the southern middle of Virginia ( 6 miles from NC) and am still looking for a dealer/ service center that could do the install as well as be able to service without having to travel all the way across the state of Va or NC to get services done when needed.
A. WE ARE RE-ORGANIZING OUR DEALER NETWORK. WE HAVE SEVERAL DEALERS IN THE CHARLOTTE AREA CURRENTLY.

10. And last thing on the list is what is the typical turn round time for install/setup as I do not have a shelter for my bikes and the live under covers or get wet. I know that stinks to high heaven but nothing I can do about that for a while.
A. AFTER INITIAL ORDER, KIT SHOULD SHIP IN 6 WEEKS. IT SHOULD TAKE NO MORE THAN 2 WEEKS FOR THE ENTIRE INSTALL. YOU ARE LOOKING AT 2 MONTHS ROUGHLY. KITS ORDERED DURING RIDING SEASON MAY EXPERIENCE DELAYS DUE TO DEMAND VOLUME.
I know you guys have probably heard all of these questions at one point or another.

Did a search but did not find what I was looking for.

And as always, thank you for the time you have spent reading my probably often answered questions and thank you in advance for whatever answers I receive.

THANK YOU FOR THE INTEREST AND QUESTIONS...

Thank you for the answers I was looking for. I guess when i was reading through things i missed the shocks being rplaced not in addition to on the rear end set ups.
and the fast turn around on answers for what I am sure sounded pretty convoluted and rambling post. forgive me for that.
i am going to write your contact information down and will be in toch with you hopefully before the ridingseason is to far gone so we can set this stuff up and get this project rolling. i would rather go to WV then Across NC anyway. beter sites and sounds aboud then in charlotte area for me anyway.
this is going to be a fun adventure/ tangent for me.
again many thanks for the answers and i will be looking to keep ground clearance as much as possible as i live on a dirt road and will need it.
you have a great night and a better day
