Recall Work on Trike Conversion

A long time ago I read here cycle manufactures/dealers frown on doing warranty
work or recall none on bikes that had a trike conversions added.

I'm wondering if the bike manufactures had a recall on a engine or drive train for safety reasons
and the dealership refuses to do said recall because it's triked, how would the manufacture know why
the recall wasn't gone as a future record, especially if you keep getting notices in the mail?

Would the dealership record "trike work" in their records to the manufacture?

When I was looking for a trike, a Honda dealer told me when they do a conversion, the front half is warranted by Honda and the rear would be warranted by California Side Car (the kit they used).

Having said that, along with my Love of Harleys, the one manufacturer warrantee was a selling point to get the tri. However, I did look into a 2004 GL 1800 with a Hannigan kit. Kinda wish now I'd of gone that route. It was 15K cheaper and would of been paid for, so I could of maybe kept it, probably not. Anyway, the fact that both bike and trike kit were out of warrantee, eliminated the warrantee issue.

Had an issue with the brakes on my GL1800 with Motortrike kit. There was a recall on the secondary master cylinder. Called the local dealer to see about getting the part replaced and they said that they didn't work on trikes. So, what do you do? Took it to my mechanic who does all my work. He did the work and I sent the paperwork in to Honda and they paid for the repair. Not sure what you would do if they didn't want to pay the repairs. The dealer I spoke with told me to see if I could find one that works on trikes. Well, yea but I don't want to haul all over the country. So, if it is a warranty issue you may be out of luck if the dealer doesn't work on trikes. He told me they didn't have a table for trikes.

Took my Motor Trike in last week to a non-trike dealership. There was absolutely no problems. I got a call 2 days before my appointment and they told me that they had done another trike, that day. Said that it took considerably longer than the previously reported 3 hrs. More like 6. Said no problem. Dropped it off and 5 hrs later, they called and it was done. No additional charges and brakes felt strong. Was very happy.

I didn't know Mother Honda would pay for the brake recall when using a non Honda dealer. What is the process... and you mentioned paper work. Is this a form from Honda? How do you submit and where do you send it.

I have a MotorTrike, and would prefer the installer to do the brake work, since he had to install/bleed and make sure the brakes were working properly, and figure he would be the one to make sure it's done properly.
