    Default 2011 Stallion

I'm hyped! Bodywork has had a few revisions in the front area for the better, Power Chip and performance exhaust adds 35 hp. Can't wait to see some good photos of the new Stallion and a detailed list of the changes. Price remains the same.

I ran across the 2011 Stallion info on the cool custom trikes website. Stallion Trikes by Thoroughbred Motor Sports, Custom Options from Cool Custom Trikes. There are a couple different photos, one of which has obviously been photoshopped. The list of factory options (in the 2011 tech specs section) now includes the performance exhaust and power chip. TMS doesn't have any info for the 2011 on their website yet. Power chips for the Ford Ranger 2.3L motor are not new and can be found via the internet. Shipping is now $895 which seems high, but the trike price and options remain about the same.

And fully loaded they are including the shipping costs to anywhere in the US in the price they quoted...is how I read it. Obviously any of the "options" they offer would be extra...but it was great to see that much info on that site. I wish the Thoroughbred Motor Sports site had that much info or more on it.

    Dennis,

I read the bit about shipping being included as well, but on another page it says shipping is $895. Who knows, maybe they have included shipping to try and generate somes sales. Wonder how much the dual exhaust and power chip will be going for? Anyone know any good dealers in the SouthEast?

Randy (Bazooka or Zook on this board) is a dealer in Dothan, AL and has manufactured an exhaust system that has been spoken highly of on this board. There is another one in Donelsonville, GA about 45 minutes away from him and another in Laurel, Mississippi. Another dealer in North GA has gotten some good press here along with the dealership in S. Carolina. Your best bet is to look up the map on the TMS website and spot the ones close to TN since that is where you are going to move to when you return stateside. Then ask on the board or use the search function on here and see what is said about the dealership.

The main problem I think that you will have is the "instant gratification" you may be seeking in walking into a dealership and not finding a Stallion available to buy and drive/ride off of the lot. Because of their high cost (though reasonable in trike terms) I don't think you'll find many dealers keeping a bunch of them in stock. Still, they have been out for around 3 years now and the initial surge in pre-ordering is probably over and TMS may start shoving them out the door to the various dealers around the country so that they can generate better sales by actually having product onsite to sell to a walk in customer. At least I hope so as that is probably how I am going to buy mine if and when I do.

I'm looking at them a lot more favorably now and even if my wife isn't as enthused (an unknown at this time) as I probably will be I will probably go ahead and take the plunge and get one if financial considerations are still looking good at that time.

Good luck Jim, as you'll be in one before I will.

    Hi Dennis,

Sent an email to Cool custom. Turns out it was just some dealer smoke and mirrors. Their response was that shipping is not included, there will be no difference between the 2010 and 2011 (bodywork the same), the power chip is just something they found on the internet but they have never installed one. They didn't mention the performance exhaust, but they did add that I could order a 2011 now with no mention of delivery dates. Good of them don't you think?

I think all they are doing is blowing a lot of smoke. The 2011 isn't going to be released until November 2010 according to TBMS. As for as the chip anyone can order one from mfg such as Hypertech or Superchip or E-Bay and exhaust just take it to a muffler shop and do your own thing. Just my oppinion.

Jim, sadly, you are right about the smoke and mirrors it seems. I went back to the site today and found that anything that mentioned the "includes shipping" in the price appears to have been taken down. I have also seen those accessories (possibly Southwest Trikes or the DFW dealership...not sure which, I think one was in Nevada) before and it appears they probably just ordered the accessory from the supplier and then installed them. There is nothing wrong with that it just seemed we were given the impression that they were designed and made by that dealer who shall now remain nameless as far as I am concerned.

The part about ordering it and guaranteeing delivery to your door now appears to be that they order it from TMS and instead of coming to them it goes direct to you...no dealer prep or anything and I would imagine there must be some kind prep needed to get it ready for sale. Also if you did it that way it appears that any accessories that you wanted they would just ship it to you and let you install it.

They just went down a notch or two in my book.

There is no way I would pay 30k sight unseen for anything. I want to be able to see what I am buying before I buy it. I contacted the factory about 6 months ago and they told me they will not sell you a Stallion even if you come to the factory. You must go through a dealer. Thats fine if the dealer has some in stock to sell.

    Miata looking better.

I know what you mean Jim, that is why I am hoping some of these dealers will start having some product on the floor to sell in the next year as that is when I will be ready to buy.

On the Miata...I was looking at them and the Ford Mustang GT, they were both priced about the same list...the Mustang won out as Miata didn't want to fight a price war and the Mustang GT runs on regular...the Miata runs on premium and the Mustang had a trunk.

    Just things to think about.

Not be be offensive but if you guys are counting on walking into a dealer and buying a Stallion you are going to be disappointed. The best you can hope for is to see a demo and take it for a ride then order one. Each dealer is different but ours took a $2000 deposit that was refundable if we did not like the condition of the stallion when it arrived. I remember she had 4 of them coming on the same shipment as ours. By the time the truck got to SC only our stallion was left, the others had been sold or traded to other dealers along the way. At least in SC the most stallions I have ever seen at the dealer was 2 and that lasted maybe a week. A lot of times she even sells out the demo, the SC dealer could care less if you walked out of the deal, as she knows she could sell it with one or 2 phone calls to the next on the list.

Hey guys most dealers are motorcycle shops that do conversions and are handling the Stallion as a add on to the business. With that being said they are not going to alot of money tied up in inventory of Stallions. There maybe a few exceptions but most fit this bill. The dealer in Jasper Ga. and 4 when I was there last year. I have been to 3 that onlt had the required 1 by TBMS.

The last two posts have brought up very important points and it is something to keep in mind when looking at the Stallion. That is why I mentioned that I was hoping that in the next year that may change to where a dealer may very well end up with one on the floor that either someone backed out on (do they forfeit the deposit?) or, again, the initial rush of "pre-orders" may be leveling off.

These vehicles are not cheap, and if someone (say me...for instance) comes in to buy but finds out that there is none available...what might I do? Jim, who is currently living in Thailand has already said the Miata is looking better if he has a choice to buying something now or waiting till a Stallion comes in (as a side note I believe the Miata and Stallion trunks are the same size or very close).

And David has brought up a good point as in the attitude of the dealer (for instance the one in SC). As long as she can dial up the next buyer and find a taker...she isn't going to care (that may be a little strong...maybe we should say she isn't going to lose any sleep over it) as she can move it. What, then is a prospective buyer going to do? I know what I would do I would try several different dealerships to see if they had one and take my business there...if that is possible (I would be willing to travel to just about anywhere in the Southeast if there is one available). What I am trying to say is depending on the attitude of the dealer I may be patient and just wait for them to come thru (even if it meant just ordering from the dealer and picking it up at TMS) but if I get the feeling that they don't value my business then there is always somewhere or "something" else to take my money.

What I am more worried about is coming home to demo a Stallion to see if I even like it and find out that the dealer doesn't have one for that purpose, then I move on to the next dealer and will try my luck there. They are, for now, a hot selling commodity but eventually that initial demand will have been met (...maybe) and there may even come a time where a dealer may actually have to "deal" to get one sold...that might be far off but it could eventually happen.

And Tmigala brought up a good point (one that I mentioned earlier) that most dealers would have the Stallion as a side business to offer another choice to the trike market. With the cost (floor planning, etc...) they are probably not going to be able to keep more than one or two on the floor and as David said they will probably not last long and then the dealer has to wait till the next truck shipment comes in till he/she has another one to offer.

I've got lots of time (under a year now) I am hoping availability does improve the closer I get to coming home but I know I wouldn't take a bet on it...I just may have to be patient or place an order over the phone from over here the closer I get to coming home.

    Lunchbox,

I could go for the scenario you describe. I am just unwilling to pay in full for something that is being drop shipped to my house before ever seeing the item. Thanks for the insight.

About a month ago I called the dealer in Jasper Ga. about a stallion.
They said they had 1 at there other store. I went there and took it for a test ride. We(my wife and I) loved it but wanted a Black Cherry one.
The next week we went to Jasper Ga. to (R & R trikes) to order one.
We were told the 2011 would not be delivered until the Fall. The salesman there (Bob) was great. He took his demo stallion and traded it to another dealer for a black cherry one and I had it the next week. A 2009 demo with less than 300 miles on it. We love it and the way we have been treated at this dealership.

also the service manager(Larry) seems to know a lot about these trikes he took the time to explain everything about it.

The SC dealer has an excellent attitude, I guess what I ment to say was she would not be upset or worried if someone backed out of a deal because she usually has a list of people waiting for a Stallion. She sells only stallions and some other new type of trike/scotter that has a windshield and a roof and a honda type engine. Sorry I do not know the name.

Finding a dealer who will work with you, and you are comfortable with is the key. Price wise there is little to no difference in price, so service and attitude are the deciding factor.

JJ I agree with your point too, paying full price and having it drop shipped could pose a lot of problems with any trike, Bike or car.
