    Default Indian trike forum

I am waiting on my new 2016 Road Master being triked by California Side Car. Scheduled for March 30,2016 Trike Talk has been my major source of information on my 2008 CSC Harley and my 2014 CSC Goldwing. Question is: I do not see any activity on the Indian Trike Section. Are the others out there with Indian Trikes? Hope to see more postings Bill (ge4ever) Lynchburg, Va

Indian trikes are few and far between. It will take a few years fo production to show up here.

Well I bought one specifically to trike when the time comes. Which won't be too much longer. But the trend to these reverse leaners has me really wanting to hold off as long as possible. I really like that concept.

I'm in the process of converting my Roadmaster to a trike. Having some quality control problems. Will keep everyone updated. Been 4 weeks since they started it.

I'll be following closely. What kind of quality concerns? I've got to choose a direction soon for my Roadmaster. Would love to go Tilting Motor Works but the Roadmaster conversion they said they were working on must have stalled as I've yet to see it displayed ANYWHERE. So will be interested in any and all problems and their solution you run into. I assume if you are running into problems that means you are doing it yourself and not our fearless leader here?

    Default 3015 Roadmaster

I've done alot of research on the different trike kits. Everything and everyone told me that California Sidecar was the Best, to go with them. You have to have a factory trained mechanic to install them. Rocky Mountain Cycle is where I'm having it installed at' They have done bout 10 different kits. My problem is quality control, !. they sent the wrong break lines, 2. the reverse module was bad( they knew about the problem and still sent a bad one), 3.the reverse pulleys were out of round ( they knew about and sent bad one's ), 4. the lower pulley they sent was out of round Again. I will be talking with the CEO of the company about all their problems so far. 2 week behind finishing my trike. What do you think?

Two week delay isn't as bad as some I've heard of but you don't have a finished product yet either. I've heard of 3 month delays. Hope yours is better than that. The thing that bugs me about trikes is the finger pointing after if something is wrong. It's never the bikes problem and never the kits problem.

    Default Long wait

Well I must agree with you. It"s never the kit problem, no admitting to it, that's it's their fault. Well now they DID. Finally sent a good set of pulleys, they worked!!. What I don't believe is they are going to give me a Lifetime Warranty on the reverse, everything, pulleys, belt everything. But seeing is believing. Now my mechanic can try and finish it. Looking forward to riding soon.

Well they finally finished my trike. After my side manager and staff got together with CSC staff and worked out the problems. Looks Great!! Will post photos soon. CEO didn't remenber that he gave me a LifeTime warranty for the reverse pulleys, belt, module, etc. My team had to remind him and he finally admitted he would give me that warranty. Going to enter my bike in a bike show next month, that's how much I like it.

Default Question about rake kit or EZ steer

My wife and I are looking to buy a used Roadmaster and have it triked. Talked to a dealer who installs Motor Trike kits and when I asked him about a rake kit they said they would try it without one. They said I could always add it if I thought I needed it. What do all of you think?

    Harold,

There are several threads posted on this subject available for your review.

You can use the Trike Talk "Search" bar. Just type in "Rake Kits" or something similar, then click "Search".

Here is a link to a more recent discussion on the subject:

    http://www.triketalk.com/forum/threa...ight=rake+kits

    Good luck with your research.

Complete baloney. Every trike of every make, model and brand, short or long benefits immensely from the addition of a rake kit, not only for ease of steering but for safety and I know this first hand. I had a customer years ago that opted out on the rake kit on his Honda VTX1300 conversion due to that same claim and almost died from a situation where a rake kit would have almost certainly kept him from running off the road.

On his first ride having just left his home in North Georgia, he left a light, turned left and accelerated at what he thought was a safe pace through the turn, but misjudged the much increased steering effort and turn radius of his new trike, jumped a curb and rolled over a 30 foot embankment with the trike landing on him. He broke his back and punctured a lung and was in a medically induced coma for a week. Was this the fault of the dealer (me, even though I suggested the rake kit) or Motor Trike for making that claim on their website and telling their dealers to this day to use that statement as a selling feature due to the lower price?

Maybe not, but to this day I feel awful about it and I will not install a trike conversion without a rake kit and feel some responsibility for my customer's accident, even though I suggested adding the rake kit. At that time I was a Motor Trike only dealer and that is what they preached. I had already built a lot of trikes and knew it was a huge improvement, but I had not before this incident considered the safety factor, so I did not push the issue.

Invest in a rake kit. It is the best money you will ever spend on your trike conversion.

Wow that is sobering, what do you think of the motor trike kit or should I look for a different kit?

I didn't think there had been enough Indians converted to know one way or the other. But I'll certainly take your word for it Randy when I go that route. Just one more to add to list of an already expensive conversion at some point. Won't even consider it without it now. Thanks for the heads up in this area.

Smile Indian Trike in my future?

Hi folks. I haven't been on Trike Talk for a few years now. I'm finally retired and at this point, I wish I still had my previous trike with all the spare time I now have.

I had sold my 2005 Goldwing/Roadsmith around 3 years ago to follow another adventure. (I kinda wish I still had her). But my real dream bike has always been an Indian! I haven't trusted myself on 2 wheels for quite a few years and although I love the look of a side-car and seriously was considering one (especially on an Indian), I just feel a trike would once again suit me better. "IF",, and I say that with reservation, I'm able to realize this last great indulgence, I'll ship my 'yet to be purchased' Indian off to Hannigan for their trike conversion.

So with all that said, I have really missed the camaraderie of this forum, all my old friends here and especially the sensation of being on 3 wheels. Here's hoping that the "powers that be" allow an Indian trike to grace the last empty space in my garage, lol.

Hope you realize your dream..... And I/We Hope you do know that you don't need a Trike , Or a bike to be able to add your two cents into the mix...
